Clean Fleece is changing our prices starting June 1, due to increased facility operating costs. Please review our new price sheet to see updated prices for member and non-member scouring services. We also have a new policy on minimum order value. All current orders and any orders dropped off before June 1 will not be affected by the price change.

Just a reminder! Clean Fleece’s turn around time on orders is currently 6 months and we work on a first come, first served basis.

I’m Home! I didn’t see any bighorn sheep on my adventure in the Southwest, US ( ☹️) but I did learn a ton about ancient Puebloan culture- including textile production

In the first few days of my trip I found myself in Blanding, Utah at The Edge of The Cedars State Park Museum. This museum & park is home to a Pueblo village built around 1075 AD. It also houses one of the largest collections of Ancestral Puebloan artifacts including this Loom. The Anasazi people of this region mainly wove cotton and yucca fibers into breachcloths and blankets for survival, but also traded these items for obsidian, iron, and Scarlet Macaws along intricate trade routes.

Towards the end of my trip I visited Montezuma Castle National Monument- another Puebloan site that dates back to 1050 AD in Camp Verde, Arizona. The Hisat’Sinom people also used looms like the one at Cedar’s Edge to weave cotton, but they would add color to their weaving using natural dyes. It was mentioned at both sites that these looms would hang from the ceiling of a room (often at the highest story of the Pueblo) to the floor and men would generally weave the cotton textiles.

While this isn’t a post about wool, I felt fascinated and privileged to be able to see the early blueprint of modern looms in their ancient setting. It’s just wild to see how much has changed throughout the years while the key mechanics stay the same. If you find yourself in the four corners area of the Southwest United States I cannot reccommend visiting these sites enough

It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve scoured Natural grey Romney. I never get tired of seeing all of the undertones that come out once the fleece is scoured. This lot is so pretty I had to take it outside for a natural light photoshoot once it was dry 😍

This fiber came from in Central NJ. Be sure to check out their page for some sweet lamb content!!

Omg hi everyone It’s been a minute! Happy New Year 🎉 December was crazy busy for us here at Clean Fleece NY. Not only have we been up to our ears in scouring- we have been making room for all sorts of new machinery ⚙️

Slide 1 is our new Wool tumblers from They will help us remove extra contaminants from wool prior to scouring.

Slide 2 is our new forklift! This will make moving wool bales and large orders a breeze 🌬️

Slide 3 is what I’m the most excited about! A NEW OPENER ❤️❤️❤️ It will allow us to open entire orders in one day!

This isn’t even all of the new machinery we have on deck and I haven’t even talked about our new loading dock situation! It’s all coming together folks! This is going to be our best year yet!

“There’s really a movement now that you can kind of feel in the industry,” said Abigail Henderson, outreach and education specialist at the Hudson Valley Textile Project. As consumers become aware of microplastics in fashion, local wool and fibers offer a natural alternative that can benefit the environment through regenerative farming practices.

We are so grateful to be featured alongside Five Sisters Farm, Pict Wool, and Muriel’s of Vermont ❤️

For farmers, selling wool and yarn can provide an additional source of income to help keep their farms afloat.
