-IMPORTANT ROSE TREE PARK SUMMER CONCERT UPDATE-

Due to the current air quality concerns for our area, the Summer Festival Concert Series scheduled at Rose Tree Park tonight (07/17/2026) and tomorrow (07/18/2026) have been cancelled.

Furthermore, for those visiting any of the Delaware County Parks & Trail Systems during this time, we encourage you to monitor yourself and those around you. Remaining hydrated and limiting your time outdoors while the Code Purple is in place are just a few healthy and smart ways to ensure your activities are fun and safe!

-INCIDENT INFORMATION-

On Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at approximately 10:38 a.m., Pennsylvania State Constables were transporting seven detainees from the Delaware County Prison to a district court when one of the transport vehicles was struck by a tractor trailer in Upper Chichester Township. The impact caused significant damage to the constable vehicle, and the striking truck fled the scene.

A request for assistance was immediately made, and Officers from the Delaware County Park Police Department, Upper Chichester Township Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, and additional Pennsylvania State Constables responded to secure the scene, assist with the incident, and conduct a crash investigation.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Upper Chichester Township Fire Department, Upper Chichester, Aston Township, and VMSC EMS units for their rapid response and for evaluating everyone involved in the crash.

Thanks to the professionalism, cooperation, and teamwork of all who responded, there was no risk to the public relating to this incident at any time. All detainees remained securely in custody and were given appropriate evaluations and medical care.

Prior to this outage, our department implimented backup security measures for the services we provide so they could remain essentially uninterrupted in cases which power or internet is lost in any of the locations we protect across the county.

Services that remain online and we continue to provide include:
- 24/7 non-emergency phone lines
- Emergency communications / dispatch
- Security systems & surveillance
- 24/7 foot and vehicle patrols at all county owned or leased properties

The Delaware County Park Police Department is dedicated to providing the best services possible to all employees, residents, and visitors of Delaware County and will continue to monitor the network outage to ensure we can continue those services uninterrupted.
