Here are some of the salient features of the rail budget in case you missed them:
1. Internet and workstation facilities on select trains
2. Ready-to-eat meals, Phone orders, Food courts (at major stations).
3. Up gradation and capacity expansion for IRCTC and other govt. ticketing services.
4. Special Tourist and pilgrim trains.
5. Cleaner trains. CCTVs and third party inspections, Separate housekeeping wings.
6. Improved quality bedrolls in AC coaches. Onboard housekeeping, RO drinking water(on experimental basis).
7. Women RPF constables to es**rt coaches reserved for females; (4000 Women RPF Constables to be Recruited).
8. Mobile-based wake-up call system and arrival alerts.
9. Summer internships to be for undergrads.
10. Railway university and tie-ups for technical and non-technical subjects.
11. Bullet Trains on select tracks. Increased speed, Diamond Quadrilateral Network of High Speed Rail connecting major metros.
12. 58 New Trains, 11 Existing Trains Extended; 864 additional state-of-the-art EMUs.
13. Top Priority to Transparency, e-procurement to be made compulsory.
14. Battery operated cars for differently-abled and senior citizens at platforms of all major stations.
15. Outsourcing of cleaning activities at 50 major stations
