Congressman Cohen needs YOU to make the difference in the election this August. This is a great opportunity for students and recent graduates to get a foot in the door with real political campaign experience. If you are looking for a future in politics, organizing, advocacy or a fun and engaging summer in Memphis, this campaign will help you develop necessary skills for your future career. You'll
make professional connections, learn new skills, become part of a team, experience Memphis, accomplish set goals while working on this congressional campaign. On this democratic primary election campaign, opportunities include:
Staffing the congressman at various events. Representing the campaign at local events. Experiencing and learning more about all parts of Memphis and the 9th district
Training and building relationships with volunteers for calling/canvassing efforts. Organizing and tasking volunteer campaign workers with necessary fieldwork duties. Supporting campaign voter contacting efforts. Working in other departments of the campaign, such as finance, fundraising, and outreach. This position will start May 15th; dates of internship are flexible through August 7th. Submit resume to [email protected]. Interns will be allowed to make their own schedules as long as they complete 125 hours + all day election day. Everyone who completes the internship will have access to a letter of recommendation from the Congressman any time they need one, and those who are interested can earn 3 optional U of M upper division college credits in either Political Science or Communication. The University of Memphis is allowing students who do summer internships to register for them in the fall (instead of the summer) so that financial aid can cover the costs. Although credit is available, it is not mandatory to receive it.
