Had a great time at the Downtown Menomonie fundraiser last Wednesday. This fundraiser helps fund Menomonie’s local nonprofit that is the Downtown Menomonie Organization (formerly known as The Main Street Organization).

This nonprofit helps markets our downtown businesses and puts on events like The Great Community Cookout, Locals Night Out and The Winter Daze Parade. We are lucky to have this organization do so much for our downtown. Thanks again for all you do and for another successful event!

The new ordinance for proactive rental inspections in the Neighborhood Stabilization and Enhancement District (NSED), with citywide tiered rent abatement and anti-retaliation measures for tenants is effective on July 1st.

See below the information about the NSED. More to come on this before July 1st!

Maintaining strong neighborhoods and working together to address housing concerns is an ongoing effort throughout our community.

The Neighborhood Stabilization and Enhancement District (NSED) is a designated area southeast of the UW–Stout campus that was established to help support well-maintained housing and neighborhood stability for both tenants and property owners.

Through the NSED program, the City of Menomonie's Building Inspections and Zoning Department conducts proactive rental inspections to help identify potential health and safety concerns before they become larger issues. The goal is to work alongside property owners, encourage quality housing, and provide resources that help maintain the character and livability of the neighborhood.

Property owners outside of the district who are interested in the same proactive inspection program can also choose to participate voluntarily.

Whether you're a tenant, property owner, or simply interested in learning more, we encourage you to visit the City's NSED webpage to view the district map, read frequently asked questions, and access information developed specifically for tenants and property owners.

We remain committed to being a Tree City here in Menomonie as we continue to plant trees this summer. A big thank you to our community services department for planting these trees as a part of our city beautification process! More to come!!

The City of Menomonie Community Services Department was out planting trees earlier last week. You’ll see new trees popping up along boulevards and in public parks across Menomonie! 73 trees were planted this week and another round of tree planting will occur later this year in the fall!

Species being planted include: Celebration Maple, Crimson Sunset Maple, Early Glow Ohio Buckeye, Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry, Hackberry, Street Keeper Honeylocust, Skyline Honeylocust, Japanese Tree Lilac, Boulevard Linden and Jefferson Elm.

A huge thank you to our Community Services team for their hard work and commitment to a healthier, more resilient Menomonie!

Summer in downtown Menomonie is here! 🌸

Free summer parking is now in effect from May 25 – Aug. 27 at all meters north of and including Wilson Avenue, with the exception of Lot 10. Included meters will have either a blue bag or a message displayed on the screen (no ribbons this year).

As you enjoy downtown this summer, be sure to check out the beautiful hanging flower baskets now brightening our streets! Thanks to the generous donation of 200 downtown hanging baskets from the GFWC–Menomonie Woman’s Club, and the help of our Community Services crew, our city is in full bloom. 🌺

Had a blast with the River Heights 3rd grade class yesterday! We discussed the teamwork between the mayor, city staff, city council, city boards and committees and the community. They asked great questions and stated what they would like to see in our community.

The future is looking bright for Menomonie with natural leaders in the classroom! Thanks to Mrs. Staatz, Principal Kennedy and the rest of the staff for the invite and the positive interaction with our youth!!
