Over the past week, I have had the privilege of presenting to both the Menomonie Rotary and Sunshine Rotary at their weekly meetings. We had a great discussion over where Menomonie is at and where we are heading. We discussed Downtown Menomonie, infrastructure, housing and expanding the local workforce.

Another little league season in the books from the Menomonie Parks and Recreation program! Last night was my little man’s last game of the season that ended with a picnic. Thank you to the recreation program, Marketplace Foods, Bills Distributing and the The Menomonie Lions for donating the food, sodas and your time and service putting on the picnic!

I had the opportunity recently to attend a round table discussion with community leaders regarding creative economic development through the arts. The City of Menomonie is onboard to support investing in the arts and the return on investment that the arts bring to our community.

We will all benefit from giving our residents and students spaces to showcase their talents, while bringing in tourism and revenue streams through local arts and culture.

It’s that time of year again. Come bring the family to the fairgrounds for the annual Dunn County Fair through Sunday. Enjoy the carnival rides, fair food, the 4H animals and much more. I hope to see you there!!

Had a great turnout last night at the Downtown Menomonie Visioning Workshop! Members from the community came together to brainstorm and workshop what we want to see in our downtown in the near and distant future, what success looks like, what partnerships and collaborations need to be made and how we get there together.

The City of Menomonie has released a new informational video featuring Director of Public Works, David Schofield to provide additional information following last week's low pressure event.

In the video, Director Schofield explains how the City's municipal water system operates, what contributed to the recent low pressure event, why precautionary boil/bottled water advisories were issued, the City's response throughout the event, and the steps being taken to help reduce the likelihood of similar events in the future.

Press Release | Irrigation Ban Extended August 18 & All Boil/Bottled Water Advisories Remain Lifted

The City of Menomonie has issued a final water system update. As a reminder, all Boil/Bottle Water Advisories have been lifted. The City’s three water towers have been completely filled and are working normally. The full lawn irrigation ban has been extended until August 18 to help the water system fully recover. This will be the final regular update regarding the Low Pressure Event.

JULY 21, 2026 - The City of Menomonie provides the following final update regarding the Low Pressure Event:

1. As previously announced, all Boil/Bottle Water Advisories have been lifted in the City of Menomonie as of Sunday July 19.

2. The City’s three water towers have been completely filled and are working normally.

3. The full lawn irrigation ban has been extended until Tuesday August 18. On Monday July 20, the City Council approved extending the full lawn irrigation ban until Tuesday August 18 to allow for rest time for overworked wells and completion of leak detection surveys. City crews have provided 32 written warnings since the ban was enacted, although the number has tapered off as information has spread.

4. As a precaution, City crews remain on the lookout for possible leaks. The City’s water system includes about 100 miles of water main pipes that are buried about 8 feet below the surface. Leaks usually come to the surface quickly, but sandy soils found in some portions of the City could hide a smaller leak. If residents see flowing water in an odd location (e.g. not Galloway Creek), please contact the City.

5. A video will be released later today with a summary of the City’s water system, the Low Pressure Event, the Boil/Bottle Water Advisories and what is being done to avoid a repeat. This will be the final regular update regarding the Low Pressure Event.

The Boil Water Notice has been lifted in all areas in the City of Menomonie.

The City of Menomonie has issued a new water system update announcing that the remaining boil water/bottled water advisory has been lifted, meaning all boil water and bottled water advisories within the City's municipal water system have now ended.

JULY 19, 2026 - The City of Menomonie provides the following Sunday update regarding the water system:

1. As previously announced, the Precautionary Boil/Bottle Water Advisory was lifted for most of the City of Menomonie on Friday July 17.

2. The Boil/Bottle Water Advisory for the municipal water system on Grand View Heights Court and Meadow Hill Drive (west of Wilson Creek) that issued on Friday July 17 has been lifted as of today (Sunday July 19). The second and third tests both came back negative (which is good) for bacteria.

3. Therefore, all Boil/Bottle Water Advisories in the City of Menomonie have been lifted.

4. The City’s three water towers are approximately 80% full. It is expected that they will completely refill overnight tonight. Water pressures throughout the City are now within normal operating range.

5. The full lawn irrigation ban remains in effect until August 1, 2026. City crews have, and will continue to, provide written warnings to those that continue to irrigate lawns although the number has tapered off as information has spread.

6. As a precaution, City crews remain on the lookout for possible leaks. The City’s water system includes about 100 miles of water main pipes that are buried about 8 feet below the surface. Leaks usually come to the surface quickly, but sandy soils found in some portions of the City could hide a smaller leak. If residents see flowing water in an odd location (e.g. not Galloway Creek), please contact the City.

7. The next update will be issued on Tuesday July 21.
