The Louisiana Department of Health reports 10,950 newly reported cases since Friday.

The vast majority (97.2%) of these newly reported cases are tied to community spread, rather than congregate settings like nursing homes.

This update represents increases among all age groups, with the largest percentage among 5-17yo (23%), and regions, with the largest percentages coming from Regions 1 (Orleans), 9 (Northshore), 2 (Baton Rouge) and 4 (Acadiana).

Sadly, we also report another 59 deaths since Friday, bringing our death toll to 11,977.

Wearing a mask and getting the vaccine are how you best protect yourself and your loved ones.

The will be hosting a Vaccine Card Assistance Day on Friday, 8/20, 9am-7pm at the Treme Center (900 N Villere St). Staff and volunteers will assist residents with troubleshooting COVID-19 vaccine card issues. Please note: there will be Spanish and Vietnamese language assistance available, too! Please swipe 👈 for graphics in multiple languages.

Types of assistance:
✔️Replacing a lost CDC card if fully immunized in Louisiana - must show a form of written identification to verify personal information (government ID, passport, employer-based photo ID, etc.
✔️Assisting with LA Wallet set-up on a mobile device if fully immunized in Louisiana.
✔️Adding records to the Louisiana Immunization Record if immunized in another state with proof of vaccine (CDC card or other state immunization documentation).
✔️If a New Orleans resident received a vaccine outside of Louisiana and does not have written documentation for that record, the resident must contact the healthcare provider or state/local health department where they received the vaccine.
