🚔 During Alcohol Awareness Week, Officer Cooper and Officer Smith joined students at the Graham Center Lawns for a police simulation activity highlighting the dangers and consequences of impaired driving.

Through an impaired vision goggle simulation, students experienced how impairment can affect coordination, perception, and the ability to drive safely.

Make a safe choice—plan your ride before you drink. Never drive under the influence. 💙💛

🔥 Charge safely. Keep exits clear, Panthers!

During Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10, FIU Police reminds everyone that small actions can help prevent fires:

🔌 Use the manufacturer-recommended charger and follow charging instructions.
📱 Charge devices on a hard surface, away from bedding and flammable materials.
🔋 Stop using batteries that are damaged or swollen.
🚪 Keep hallways, doors and emergency exits clear.
🚨 When a fire alarm sounds, evacuate immediately and use the stairs.

🚨 BUZZED DRIVING IS DRUNK DRIVING. 🚨

Think you’re “okay to drive” after a few drinks? Think again. Even if you don’t feel drunk, alcohol can affect your judgment, reaction time, and ability to safely operate a vehicle.

This Labor Day weekend, make a plan before you celebrate. 🥂➡️🚗❌

✅ Designate a driver
✅ Use a rideshare
✅ Call a friend
✅ Never drive impaired

Your destination can wait. Your life—and the lives of others—can’t.

🏠 Plan a safe ride home.
