Ahead of last night’s traffic blitz, Sgt. Hernandez conducted a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) detail focused on education and safe roadway behavior:

• 15 pedestrian contacts
• 7 bicycle contacts
• 2 vehicle educational contacts
• 1 citation issued
• 4 bicycle lights distributed

Last night’s traffic blitz continued those efforts through proactive enforcement, resulting in:

• 44 citations
• 1 written warning
• 1 arrest following a foot pursuit
• 3 vehicles towed
• 1 assist to another agency

We remain committed to keeping our roadways, sidewalks and crosswalks safe for everyone.

Pedestrians should use the south crosswalk until further notice. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the intersection.

School is almost back in session!

Before heading to NSE/SIB K-8, take a moment to review the designated drop-off and pick-up traffic pattern. Following the established route helps keep traffic moving and, most importantly, helps keep our students safe.

Remember: RIGHT is CORRECT! Students should exit vehicles from the right/passenger side only.

Please allow extra time, be patient and follow the directions of SIBPD officers and crossing guards.

Despite a two-hour rain delay, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement blitz last night that resulted in 38 traffic citations, one vehicle tow, two seized license plates, and two arrests.

During the operation, Sgt. Bestard observed two vehicles drag racing northbound on Collins Avenue from the Haulover area. A traffic stop was conducted, and both drivers were arrested and charged with drag racing on a highway.

Whether it’s aggressive driving, speeding, or other dangerous traffic violations, our officers remain committed to keeping our roads safe for everyone.
