It all started right here. With you.

In the beginning, National Park Geek was just this account. No products, no shop, nothing to buy. Just a place for people who love these parks as much as we do to find each other, started by Daniel and Jacqui because they wanted that too.

We never set out to sell a single thing... Then you asked for a sticker, that photo of Daniel holding one up in Joshua Tree is the very first ask that started it all. Then another sticker. Then a patch, and a tee shirt…You asked, we answered. That’s the origin story of everything in the shop today.

These are just some of the faces of our community over the years. All over the country, all wearing a symbol of belonging to this community.

It’s no coincidence we are celebrating our birthday today right alongside the National Park Service’s 110th birthday, the same date President Wilson signed the Organic Act back in 1916. Danniel chose that date on purpose (as only a true GEEK would).

The one to circle is August 25. That’s the day President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act in 1916, officially creating the National Park Service. So we chose that same date to found National Park Geek in 2015. It’s the NPS’s 110th birthday, a fee-free day, and our 11th, all at once.

Happy National Park Week! This week the National Park Service turns 110! From the Virgin Islands to American Samoa, from Guam to Puerto Rico, from South Carolina to California, and Maine to Alaska, the National Park Service protects over 430 sites. Although they are not as protected as we once thought they were (Big Bend, Mojave, Prince William, Gates of the Arctic), they still receive a high level of security from dismantling. Our voices, the voices of the People of the United States, must continue to speak up for our culture, wildlife, lands, air, dark sky and waters. Our public lands and parks cannot exist without YOU. So get out there and celebrate your love for National Parks!

Yesterday’s sunrise casting its golden light on the Everglades’ mangrove marshes. Did you know, mangroves can reduce hurricane’s wave heights by 60%, saving coastal communities, and they also act as incredible carbon sinks, storing huge amounts of carbon.

We love always being in the right place at the right time!! Alaska National Parks are gems.

One of those shots I never thought I’d actually get… but then you go to the exact right place, at the exact right time of year, and suddenly this incredible scene is right in front of you. I took countless photos (ok maybe like 500-600) over two days, and ended up liking one of the first series I took the best. Sometimes that’s just how it goes!

Big Bend National Park in its rawest form caught on film. This place is a monolith in its own right. Although it has been carved out for park infrastructure (which requires environmental reviews overseen by scientists), it is still one of the most absolutely wild places in the lower 48. The border infrastructure going in, with NO environmental review, and NO attention to location, cultural artifacts (which have been found where contractors have plowed), and wildlife (nests have been moved now along with native plants they are replanting), is a tough pill to swallow. Call representatives, speak up for YOUR public lands. It’s not just about Big Bend now. This opens doors to every park. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is getting a double wall soon. Without our nature we have nothing left.
Thank you Chad Yerrick 2026: Big Bend National Park. I hope you had a chance to visit. Standing proudly, chin up, mouth agape, and looking with amazement. No cell phone towers, no Buc-ees, just you and Texas.

Mount Rainier is stunning from every angle. In fact, the whole line of Cascades are pretty phenomenal. Rainier does not creep up on you. It’s there. And it’s everywhere. It has a perfect ring of forest, meadows, alpine lakes, and hiking trails around it.
