Remember those who were lost to an overdose, acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind, and renew our commitment to end overdose and related harms. The Miamisburg Police Department is an active partner with community groups like Montgomery County Drug-Free Coalition , which offers substance abuse services and resources in Montgomery County.

🐾🚔 Happy National Dog Day! 🐶

Some dogs chase tennis balls. Some chase squirrels. And then there are the dogs who chase the bad guys. 😎

Our K9 officer has a pretty ruff job—keeping our community safe, finding what needs to be found, and making sure his human partner stays in line.

He works hard, trains hard, and somehow still has time for belly rubs.

Today, we’re giving a big shoutout to our four-legged officer, k9 Bolo! 🐾

Responding to a mental health crisis requires understanding, specialized training, and strong community partnerships. Law enforcement officers are often the first to respond, making Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training an important part of effective crisis response.

We are proud to recognize Officer D. Branham and Officer C. Sorrell for recently completing CIT Training.

CIT equips officers with the skills to recognize mental health crises, use de-escalation techniques, and connect individuals and families with appropriate resources and treatment.

The Miamisburg Police Department is warning residents about scammers impersonating police officers and threatening victims with arrest or criminal charges unless they pay money.
THIS IS A SCAM.
Police will never demand payment over the phone to make a warrant, investigation, charge, or arrest go away. They will not ask you to purchase gift cards, send cryptocurrency, wire money, withdraw cash, or provide sensitive financial information.
🚩 Common scams include:
• “You have a warrant. Send money to avoid arrest.”
• “Your niece/nephew has been arrested and needs bond money.”
• “Your computer has been locked. Pay to unlock it.”
• “You won the lottery, but you need to send money to receive your winnings.”
Scammers may instruct victims to purchase gift cards and provide the card numbers, withdraw large amounts of cash, or keep the situation secret. In some cases, they may even arrange for a delivery service to come to your home and collect the cash.
DON'T PANIC. DON'T PAY. HANG UP.
If something sounds questionable, DO NOT DO IT!

People can report cybercrimes and many phone/internet scams through the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3):

IC3 collects information such as phone numbers, email addresses, websites, and other details that can help investigators identify patterns and connect cases. Reports are shared throughout the FBI and with law enforcement partners and can assist investigations and, in some cases, efforts to freeze stolen funds.
If you have already sent money or provided personal information, contact your bank and local law enforcement immediately.
When in doubt: STOP, VERIFY, and REPORT.
