Welcome to Midland County's Park and Recreation. We are located in Midland Michigan and our parks include: Sanford Lake, Pere Marquette, Manitou Park, Laur Big Salt River, Pinehaven and Veterans Memorial. Some of our annual events include the Mud Creek Crawl, Parkapalooza, Sanford and Sun Trilithon and numerous fishing events to name just a few. We also offer pavilion and umbrella rentals. With the cold and snow fast approaching, please note, seasonal gate closures will be in place November 1st to May 1st at the 8 Mile Road entrance to Veterans Memorial Park, Manitou Park, and Laur Big Salt River Park. Thank you!

On Saturday, July 29 the boat launch at Sanford Lake Park will be closed for the Sanford and Sun Triathlon from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. or until the last swimmer is out of the water. Due to the current flood event in Midland County, the Pere Marquette Rail Trail is currently closed from the M-30 Bridge to approximately 8 Mile Road due to water over the trail.

DUE TO THE CURRENT FLOOD EVENT AND IN THE INTEREST OF OVERALL PUBLIC SAFETY, THE SANFORD LAKE TRIATHLON SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 24 AT SANFORD LAKE PARK HAS BEEN CANCELLED. EXTREME FLOODING WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT WATER HAZARDS, INCLUDING RAPID FLOWING WATER AND POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION FROM SEWAGE OVERFLOW CONDITIONS. Please note, due to recent rains and storm damage, the loop at South Veterans Memorial Park is closed to all activity. Use caution on all other trails until staff has finished with storm damage clean up. In addition, the North picnic area and boat mooring area at Sanford Lake Park are temporarily closed due to flooding and damage. We recommed not using the disk golf course today as most areas of the course are flooded. Parking is very limited at this time. Thank you!

On Saturday, June 24, 2017 the boat launch at Sanford Lake Park will be closed while swimmers are in the water for the Sanford Lake Triathlon. The restriction for launching a boat will be from 7:45 a.m. until the last swimmer is out of the water at approximately 9:30 a.m. Once the last swimmer is out the launch will reopen as normal. The swimming area at Sanford Lake Park will be closed June 13, 2017 due to lake treatment for weeds and algae. The swimming area will reopen June 14, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. Please enjoy the splash pad and other amenities the park offers. Thank you!

The Mud Creek Crawl 5K/10K will be held at Pine Haven Recreation Area on Sunday, September 25th. Further information and registration can be found at the Tri To Finish website at tritofinish.com/.

Tri To Finish puts on the best athlete racing events in Michigan, including 5K, 10K, duathlon and triathlon events.

2. THE SPRAY PAD AT SANFORD LAKE PARK IS CLOSED UNTIL A REPLACEMENT PART IS RECEIVED. THE PART IS BEING SHIPPED OVERNIGHT AND WE WILL REOPEN THE SPRAY PAD AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

On Saturday, August 6, 2016 Sanford Lake Park will host the Sanford and Sun Triathlon. Please note the boat launch will be closed from 7:30 am - 9:00 am or until the last swimmer has left the water. Use caution entering or exiting the park during the event as bikers and runners will be using the roadways outside of the park. The triathlon should be over between 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Please plan your day accordingly and as always thank you for your cooperation!
