Last night, we had an opportunity to celebrate our shared work to represent Utah’s Indigenous history in the Museum of Utah with Tribal Leaders. We were able to explore the galleries together, appreciate the stories being told, and celebrate our ongoing partnership in preservation.

Indigenous history and narratives are woven throughout our galleries as an important part of Utah’s state history.

Special thank you to Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson and Dallin Maybee for their remarks during the evening’s program.

The Museum opens on June 27 and we can’t wait to share it with you! Learn more at museumofutah.com

From the ancient recipes of Utah’s Native peoples, to pioneer dishes carried across the plains, to the vibrant traditions brought here from every corner of the world, the tables of Utah reflect the richness of our shared American stories and experiences.

We just launched 40 uniquely Utah recipes to celebrate the tastes, traditions, and foods that bring us together across the Beehive State for America’s Potluck on Sunday, July 5. Consider this an invitation to explore and share the flavors that define Utah’s food culture, from cherished classics to modern favorites.

We are one month away from celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The America 250 initiative celebrates the journey toward this historic milestone as an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

As part of that reflection, we celebrate the Museum of Utah as a legacy gift to the people of Utah that will inspire generations of Utahns to come.

For World Bicycle Day, here's a look way back, from Utah Historical Quarterly Vol. 50, No. 2, in 1982: "Bicycle Racing and the Salt Palace: Two Letters" edited by Olive W. Burt.

Cloyd F. Woolley, a Denver advertising executive, died in 1956. Nine years earlier he had written the following two letters to his sister, reminiscing about the early days of Utah bicycle racing and the construction of the Salt Palace.

We are participating in Utah Civic Season! Join us on Tuesday, June 30th at 6:00 PM for history and hands-on creativity as we recreate the symbols of Utah through light and color. Using a 'stained-glass' tissue paper technique, participants will craft their own window-ready versions of the Utah State Flag. Come learn about the history of the state flag, its role as a state symbol, and create your own!

Utah in Layers: A Faux Stained-Glass Craft Night is sponsored by Utah Historical Society and all materials will be provided!

Where do video games come from? Every time you step into a 3D world or play a blockbuster video game, you might be looking at a piece of Utah.

In the 1960s, visionaries at the University of Utah didn’t just study computers, they were the architects of the digital revolution, coding the graphics that power our world today.

Experience the tech that changed the game at the Museum of Utah, opening June 27th on the Utah Capitol Complex. Learn more at museumofutah.com.

This is not your normal bike, so what even is it?!

If you’re not sure, you’re not alone. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a boss bike (often called a rail or track bicycle) was a clever contraption custom-built for navigating the narrow-gauge railroad tracks deep inside underground mines.

Rather than rubber tires, these bikes were fitted with flanged metal wheels designed to grip the minecart rails. Shift managers used bikes like this for daily inspection of Utah’s mining tunnels.

You can see one on display at the Museum of Utah, opening Saturday, June 27! Join us for a full day of celebration with food trucks, live music, activities, and more on the Utah Capitol Complex from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Be among the first to explore our galleries and immerse yourself in the stories that shape our state.

Move over dinosaurs and Delicate Arch… Utah’s truest legacy might just be the rubber chicken. 🐔🤫

While you might know our state for its stunning red rocks or “The Greatest Snow on Earth,” Salt Lake City’s own Loftus International actually became the leading force behind mass-producing and distributing the world’s most famous prank prop decades ago.

Utah’s culture is a beautiful mix of the historic, the groundbreaking, and the downright quirky—and we’re bringing all of those untold stories under one roof. From the legendary to the hilarious, get ready to dive deep into our state’s rich heritage at the upcoming Museum of Utah! 🏛️✨

🗓️ We open on Saturday, June 27! Join us at the Grand Opening Celebration on the Utah Capitol Complex.
