On January 5, the School Based Allergies and Asthma Management Program Act was signed into law. This is a huge step forward in terms of serving and protecting children with asthma and allergies across the nation.

This law encourages states to identify students with asthma, train school personnel on how to administer asthma medication, reduce asthma triggers, improve care ordination between schools and health care centers, and ensure children have asthma action plans on file. States who implement these plans and policies can earn financial rewards for doing so.

This new law is a step in the right direction when it comes to making schools asthma friendly!
