The City of Milwaukee has issued a weather emergency declaration. This emphasizes the dangers associated with travel, and allows for the closure of various city government offices.

City health clinics have already been closed. Libraries throughout the city are also closing for the remainder of the day. The other city offices will be closed to the public by 3 p.m. The Mayor has given city departments the flexibility to send in-person workers home if appropriate. Essential city employees remain on the job.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) has reported to the Mayor that it is facing difficulty maintaining safe travel—particularly on sidewalks—with the combination of ice, rain, and sub-freezing temperatures. Various DPW crews have been redeployed to ice control; that will impact some garbage and recycling collections.

Public works crews will continue to work to manage the icing on city streets. The Mayor anticipates lifting the emergency declaration by tomorrow morning.

Stay safe everyone!

Community Blood Drive #DonateBloodSaveLife

Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin has an immediate need for 15 community members to donate blood at the Northwest Side Community Blood Drive this Saturday, January 29th between 9 am – 1 pm at Silver Spring Neighborhood Center.

Did you know that 1 out of 365 African-American children are born with sickle cell disease? MATCHING MATTERS! Blood from a donor of a similar ethnic background is less likely to be rejected by the patient and often results in fewer complications after a transfusion. 44% of African Americans have the blood type needed to treat these sickle cell warriors.

You have the power to save lives.

First-time blood donors with Versiti can add code word “NEW” into their appointment notes and will receive a $25.00 E-gift card with a valid email address. All attempting donors will receive a limited edition pair of Versiti socks, while supplies last. Free refreshments for all donors! Masks required.

https://youtu.be/QQUnlLf7gYw Why are the MPD afraid of transparency? Why would they waste crime scene tape as a means to deter the 1st Amendment. This scene has no evidence markers. Its is not defined to the specific area of the crime and the excuse of having to watch the Journalist lessens their ability to their job is not intelligent excuse. They always need to be aware of who is about and who might enter the crime scene. Someone must always have the duty of security of the scene, normally more than one. So what is the real reason other than to stop the 1st Amendment.

https://youtu.be/-lNxE50U_-0 Congratulations on bringing the hate Tibbets......His improper actions as well as making up law is beyond what he is trained and must have been learned on the street. He brings discredit upon the City, the Department and every member who is doing it right.....
I am sure there will be no response. However, there needs to be more organization for the priority shots locations for the Mill Road location. The hours are 10-4 when most have to work and on a walk in basis? Now this means one will have to take an entire day as no one knows how this will work as a walk in. Can someone revisit this and set it up so there are appointments as well. Better planning for the staff so they are not inundated too. Looking for several appointments...who can help?
Ya wariyat Mezmur
I can tell by the failure to remove leaves from the streets how you all will treat Milwaukee once the snow hits.😑 What a great job. You should give yourselves a pat or two.
2238 n farewell ave Crossroads collective No plexiglass at the bar Along with management not wearing mask Made an old lady say she’ll never come back here
o, let me see now; Black Thugs Matter are allowed to terrorize, humiliate, harass and torment citizens who are doing NOTHING to them but when citizens stand up to the bullies, They get arrested, Right? THANK THE DEMOCRATS FOR THIS
WTH is this. So if they show up out in front of your homes in the middle of the night and you get the same police respond time I hope you'll just wait patiently. Pathetic
