Did you know? Cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss worldwide. June is Cataract Awareness Month!

Cataracts form when the natural lens in your eye becomes cloudy—often so gradually that you may not notice until your vision is significantly affected. Common signs include:
🔹 Blurry or dim vision
🔹 Sensitivity to light
🔹 Trouble seeing at night
🔹 Faded colors

The good news? Cataracts are treatable—and early detection is key! Routine eye exams can catch cataracts and other vision issues before they impact your quality of life.

Schedule a routine eye exam today with Dr. Hinson at [email protected] or call 414-615-0116—your future self will thank you!

Welcome to another fantastic episode of Vision Forward's Tech Connect! This week, the dream team is back in action! As both of our Assistive Technology Specialists: Cory and Luke, are excited to showcase the Mirror Pad Pro by Irie AT!

This exciting CCTV tabletop magnifier sports two powerful cameras for distance and close up magnification. The massive 16 inch display can be split so as to display both camera feeds simultaneously. You can even plug in any HDMI compatible device, such as a Fire TV or Roku for direct display. Or better yet, use your Android smartphone as an input to control your phone using the Mirror Pad's 16 inch touchscreen! Although an iPhone will display when plugged in, unfortunately you cannot yet control your iPhone using the Mirror Pad's touchscreen.

The Mirror Pad Pro has a plethora of useful Low Vision features including: Full page OCR, loads of Color Modes and various visual adjustments via sliders for settings like Saturation, Contrast and Brightness. Join us and learn everything you need to know about the exciting features of this CCTV!

Special thanks to Jeff Gardner, CEO at Irie AT, for providing additional footage used in today's video!

🌟 Client Spotlight: Christine’s Journey with Vision Forward 🌟

Christine has been part of the Vision Forward family for over 10 years. Living with glaucoma, her needs have changed—but so has the support we’ve been able to provide.

In the early days, she’d stop in for 20/20 pens and thick-lined paper. But as her vision began to diminish, her visits—along with her son—became more frequent. Together, we discovered tools that made a real difference: better lighting, large-print calendars, and her favorite find—a talking keychain that keeps her on schedule without a bulky watch.

Most recently, Christine came in looking to replace her old magnifier unit. After trying a few options, she lit up when she saw the Explore 8 magnifier. It was just what she needed—and it went home with her that day. Read more about her journey here at https://vision-forward.org/chrisines-story

We’re honored to be a part of Christine’s journey toward continued independence. 💛
