Opioid Prevention Campaign

The opioid crisis continues to claim thousands of lives every year and experts are increasingly worried about alarming trends among youth. As youth are an easily overlooked group in the opioid crisis despite suffering some of its sharpest consequences, we are joining Addiction Policy Forumto launch the Opioid Prevention Campaign as a response to empower youth and the adults working with them. #OpioidPrevention

Milwaukee Fire Department Announces Free Gun Safety Lock Program in Partnership with City of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention, Milwaukee County Department of Health & Human Services

Accidental firearm discharges resulting in injury or death are a growing concern nationwide and in Milwaukee; gun safety locks, when utilized, can significantly reduce these incidents. The MFD has free gun safety locks available to individual residents of Milwaukee in its firehouses, and
on its emergency apparatus. No personal information or documentation of any kind will be asked or kept on those requesting a lock. In addition, locks will also be made available at all COVID 19 testing sites in the city. This would not have been made possible without the MFD’s partners in the Office of Violence Prevention and Milwaukee County Behavioral Health.
