It is with a heavy heart that we are mourning the loss of our director, Jim Luther. He passed into the loving arms of our dear Father in heaven last week and will be laid to rest tomorrow. The wake will be today, Thursday, August 10th at Krause Funeral Home on Capital Drive starting at 4pm with Vigil at 7:30. The funeral will be at St. John Vianney Parish in Brookfield Friday at 10am.

Many people have asked for our phone number. We do not have one. If you are in need of emergency food, please call 211 and they can direct you to a food pantry servicing your address. If you want to volunteer, drop a line to our director, Steve Pollack at [email protected].

09/28/2016

Several people have asked what they need to bring in order to receive food from the pantry. You need a drivers license or State ID and a piece of mail (utility bills, etc.) mailed to you at an address served by our pantry. Ids must be provided for each person living in your household that you wish to be included.

Things are still in flux at the pantry. We recently changed to a "choice" pantry which has some people confused. This is required by Hunger Task Force and the Federal Government. Many people like it, but it requires much more manpower. volunteers are greatly needed. If you're looking for something to do on Tuesdays between 11 am and 3 pm or Wednesdays between 2 pm and 6:30 pm, please join us. We also need people for unloading trucks and picking up food at the West Allis Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I realize several people have asked about our phone number. We do not have one. If you have questions, please message us at this page. I'm in the process of updating the information and pictures to show what we're doing in 2016. Our director, Jim Luther had a stroke in March and is not back in full form yet. We're hoping by September/October he will be back in the saddle! Prayers are appreciated for his quick recovery and his wife's sanity!

The summer growing season is coming to a close, but the bounty from the West Allis Farmers Market is still strong. Many of the farmers contribute their excess produce to us at the end of the sale day on Tuesdays which we distribute on Wednesday afternoons. Since the rules of the Farmers Market is that everything must be picked the same day it's sold, everything is VERY fresh. We had an abundance of peppers of every color, late summer squash, corn, beans, and other vegetables. Our clients love the variety and freshness and it's sooooo good for them.
