National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually in the United States from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. At the beginning of the month we posted this pledge with the hopes of generating suicide prevention awareness. We want to keep it going beyond the month of September. We want our followers to write their pledges on this post, share this post in their feeds, or even just talk about it with their friends and family. We need all hands on deck in the fight to prevent suicide among our military ranks. #ConnectToProtect #SPM20 #BeThere

Today is more than just the United States Air Force’s 73rd birthday. Today is an opportunity to reflect on where we came from, how we got here and where we are going.

For more than seven decades we have served, fought, bled and died because our great nation needed us. We have broken barriers, some cultural and some sonic. We have dared to push boundaries, test our own limits and achieve the impossible.

We are, and continue to be, the world’s greatest Air Force.

Happy birthday, wingmen!

September 10th, 2020, is World Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Day. We wear yellow as representation of the yellow ribbon for suicide awareness.

Remember to check in with your wingman or wingwoman. Sometimes battles are fought in silence, and it takes a concerned friend to join that fight.

Wisconsin National Guard

The #WisconsinNationalGuard is fully engaged to serve and protect the citizens of Wisconsin on this very important mission. For the last two nights, we have sent Soldiers and Airmen to support law enforcement in the City of Kenosha in protecting lives and property. We are working diligently to provide additional assistance and we are committed to meeting all requests submitted by civil authorities.

The events in Kenosha are tragic, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. The members of the Wisconsin National Guard are proud to serve the citizens of this great state and stand ready to provide assistance to local authorities in times of crisis.

We are your neighbors. We are your fellow citizen soldiers and airmen and ultimately, everyone's goal is to keep our community safe.

Experiencing loss and processing the complex emotions of grief have always been difficult, but face an even greater challenge when we’re distancing ourselves from others while trying to maintain a feeling of connectedness. It is a comfort to know that even in times where we may not physically be able to connect and grieve together, we all have our own “ball in the box” and thus are inherently connected.

The Wisconsin National Guard is leading the way by creating an innovative and effective way to address issues with Soldier and Airmen health and wellness.

Wisconsin’s State Leadership continues to show their support for Comprehensive Health and Wellness across the organization, as Soldiers and Airmen from across the state learn valuable skillsets.

Wisconsin National Guard’s State Leadership has continued to show their support for the newly re-branded Comprehensive Health and Wellness courses (which used to be Soldiers and Airmen’s Fitness Course and FIT-P). The State Leadership communicated and connected with those who attended each of the courses; supporting our service member’s during the CHW course as well as the CHW leadership course by sharing in our successes as well as running alongside our service members during our longer runs, they joined in our PT sessions and opened up, speaking frankly with us about the value of our service members to the Wisconsin National Guard's mission.
Here are some key take-aways that came from the recent leadership course:

“Participating as cadre for the CHW Basic course is one of the most rewarding parts of my military career. I am energized by the growth and perseverance of the service members. Participating in the CHW Leader’s course unlocked personal growth. It challenged me to process areas of my life I wasn’t able to unlock before. I learned interpersonal communication techniques to mentor soldiers in a way that finds their intrinsic motivation,” said Sgt. First Class Tracy Urban, the Service Member Support Division’s Warrior Resilience and Fitness non-commissioned officer in charge.

“CHWLC is, as the name implies, aimed at leaders E-5 and above in both the Army and Air Guard. We were introduced to Motivational Interviewing and how it supports the 5-Pillars of Comprehensive Health and Wellness - physical, mental, financial, social, spiritual. The purpose of the course is to ‘enhance the WING’s readiness and culture.’ This can only be done with a cultural shift that prioritizes the organization’s greatest asset - the people,” said Maj. Mark Weigel, commander of the WING’s officer commissioning school, at the 426th Regiment (RTI) Regional Training Institute. “If we can demonstrate the courage to trust our personnel to drive towards their own goals, we will find they are nested within our own and they will be sustained.”

"CHW is beneficial for everyone. At its very best it is saving lives," said Tech. Sgt. Jacob Hansen, a craftsman in the Radar, Airfield and Weather Systems at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center. “Second to that it is promoting someone from surviving to thriving. It even takes a generally well person and unlocks some hidden potential. For the highest performers, it reaffirms positive qualities. This is not just a job, it is a critical function. If wellness, efficiency, excellence and performing to maximum potential are congruent with the values of the organization then we must promote CHW," said Hansen.

Brig. Gen. Joane Mathews, Wisconsin's deputy adjutant general for Army visited the recent CHWL class and spoke to the leaders there.
“Looking at the topics [included in this course] I was thinking, where else would you be or would you go to get a course like this? I think it’s extremely valuable information that you’re learning. It’s valuable not just for you personally and professionally, but for your Soldiers and Airmen as well,” said Mathews. “I think this course is important for your Soldiers and Airmen so that you can learn to help them through some of life’s struggles. I think it will be useful for your subordinates, but also important to share with your peers who may not have been able to join the course.”

The CHW team is always happy to learn and grow alongside of our service members and our senior leaders, and we hope you all can join us at one of our upcoming courses!

So this is the kind of trash you’ve got the nerve to call a LTC? Really?
I wouldn't even bother with y'all if you just started a global campaign to use cleaner fuels in the AF. Maybe losing someone and coming on my feed today is the reason for this data on the board earlier today July 4 2020? Methane this year in the Arctic is going exponential. There has got to be a better way to fly cleaner with less contrail Wm2 radiative forcing climate chaos.
Edit: want to honor the unit and let everyone know they responded to me.
