As we all work through our feelings about the tragedy in Madison yesterday, here is another reminder why it is so important for candidates who believe in legislating gun safety to run for office. Wisconsin Progress is ready and waiting to work with you.

The facts don’t lie. We just released our Annual Gun Law Scorecard, which analyzes and grades all 50 states on the strength of their gun laws and compares that to their gun death rate.

The data is undeniable: Fewer people die from gun violence in states that care enough to pass gun safety laws. It’s that simple.

I wrote a column as a guest over at “The Recombobulation Area” on what I hope to see in the coming months (and years) concerning support and prioritization from the larger dem party as an organization.

It’s electoral work AND deep organizing. It’s turning out reliable Dems AND seeing the value in connecting with folks who are historically more Republican. It’s utilizing the infrastructure the party has across the state and developing it to be more authentic and effective in doing the right thing, responding to crises, and connecting all of that to policy.

On this Veterans' Day we honor all Armed Forces Service Members who have served to build a safer, more inclusive, and more equitable world. As we remember their efforts, let's look to what we - as citizens and as state or local elected leaders - can do over the next four years to do that at home. We have not been silenced, but rather hushed for now. Rest, find your passion, and stoke that flame. You are needed in this world for now and for the future.
