WIC food of the week: Tofu

Tofu is a vegetarian protein option made of dried soybeans. It is packed with several nutrition benefits, such as:

Protein: Building blocks of the body for tissue growth and repair
Calcium: helpful for bone health
Manganese: important for metabolism

Ways to prepare tofu:
Cut up the tofu into cubes and marinade with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bake until browned on the outside. Get creative and garnish it with cilantro, jalapenos, or whatever you like! You can also add it to soups and it will soak up the flavor of the soup.

Tofu es una opción de proteína vegetariana hecha de soja seca. Contiene varios beneficios nutricionales como:

Proteína: Ayuda mantener y reparar músculos y tejidos
Calcio: Ayuda con el salud de los huesos
Manganeso: Es importante para el metabolismo

Maneras para preparar tofu:
Corta el tofu en cubos y échale aceite de oliva, polvo de ajo, sal, y pimienta. Hornea el tofu hasta que se dore. Sea creativo y adornarlo con cilantro, jalapeños, o que le guste a usted! También puede echar el tofu a la sopa y el tofu absorberá el sabor de la sopa.
