Meet Bachi! Adoptable!
(fostered in Minneapolis, MN)
Bachi (means ālittle girlā) is a 3-year-old, 35-pound spayed, docked tail, OES/Mix who is looking for a very special person to help her discover what it means to feel safe and loved.
Bachi came to rescue as retired breeding stock and had little human interaction. She is still extremely fearful and, at times, can seem almost feral. Her foster mom is patiently showing her that people can be trusted, and Bachi is beginning to make smallābut incredibly meaningful steps forward.
She isnāt ready to run up and ask for pets just yet. In fact, she still wonāt approach people for affection. But with patience and deliberate, non-threatening body language, she is beginning to allow her foster mom to pet her gently. On the chest, under her chin, and around her ears. And it seems sheās discovering that she actually likes it. She has done well with each bath and trim, which is a huge accomplishment for a dog who finds new experiences frightening.
One thing that has made an enormous difference for Bachi is her canine friend, Sisu. She absolutely adores the resident Old English Sheepdog and plays with Sisu as though theyāre exactly the same size! They wrestle, chase each other, play tug, and have even been known to chew on the same chew together before casually moving on to another one and doing it all over again. Weirdos? Absolutely. Best buds? You betchaā.
Bachi also can be caught entertaining herself - tossing stuffed animals in the air over and over but don't laugh at her, well, not too loudly or sheāll quit and that's no fun! lol
When sheās not playing, Bachi enjoys the simple comforts of life. She loves her pint-sized bed and, on warmer days, can be found stretched out on the cool slate floor.
She loves her schedule and will remind you if dinner is past due, sheāll announce potty time and when it's her bedtime, etc.
Bachi is not a dog for everyone, and her future family will need to understand that earning her trust could take considerable time. But for the right person, watching this frightened little girl slowly discover safety, affection, play, and companionship will be an incredibly rewarding journey.
Her ideal home would be a very patient, quiet, understanding family, preferably a couple where at least one person works from home or is retired. A confident, friendly dog companion would likely be tremendously beneficial and could help Bachi continue to build her confidence.
Bachi doesnāt need someone to āfixā her. She needs someone willing to meet her where she is, move at her pace, celebrate the tiny victories, and give her the time she deserves.
For the very special person who can do that, Bachi could become something truly wonderful.
