The cold weather setting in Milwaukee makes us think back to the warmer summer months. MIDN stayed busy, especially MIDN Nuttall, Moss, Vaccaro, and Plumley who all completed the “Tough Mudder!” This grueling 10 mile course pushed each competitor to their limits as they ran and overcame obstacle courses all the while performing as a team. Way to go Midshipmen!!

MARQUETTE NURSES AT WORK!

Marquette NROTC’s Nursing Students have a unique summer cruise of their own. MIDN Money and Edwards practiced important, fundamental medical skills such as IV placement and blood draws with Corpsmen during their underway with the USS Abraham Lincoln. They also got to tour different parts of the ship and even meet the Command Master Chief and Commanding Officer. MIDN 1/C Larghe was placed at Naval Medical Center San Diego and was able to spend time in multiple hospital wards. Afterwards she toured some of the Navy’s medical facilities such as USNS Mercy and Miramar Branch Health Center.
Keep up the good work!

UNIT SPACES UPDATES!!

In recent months the Midshipman Study, Gym, and Lounge have each gone through renovation to improve the experience Marquette NROTC provides. These projects would not be possible without the support from @marquetteu and @mu_navy_rotc_alumni.
The Midshipmen Study includes new couches and desks for studying or relaxing. There is also a microwave, coffeemaker, and library of Navy reading material. The banners of the three schools at MU NROTC, Marquette, MSO, and UW Milwaukee, are hung as well to represent our Midshipmen.
The Unit gym has a new squat rack, weight bar, and core trainer to name a few. It also includes refreshing items such as new paint, better organization, and new floor mats to revive the look.
In the lounge, items were reorganized to better serve Midshipmen use of the space. There is also a new table with chairs for additional usage.
These projects better the Midshipmen experience and cultivate a welcoming environment for all those that pass through our spaces.

Several MUNROTC Marines took part in their summer cruise, Marine Month. During this time, the Marine Option Midshipmen got exposure to their future careers in the Corps. They learned about Marine Air-Ground Task Forces (MAGTFs), the guiding principle of the USMC, and saw different Marine Occupational Specialties (MOSs) in action. This helps them develop their leadership skills and prepares them for Officer duties in the USMC. Way to go on the hard work this month!
