Ida Bell Wells-Barnett

A journalist, educator, and leader in the early stages of the Civil Rights Movement. Three of her friends, black men who owned a grocery store, were perceived as taking business away from a white grocery store nearby. During an 1892 riot the three men where arrested after having been accused of raping a white woman. The three men were, kidnapped from their jail cells and lynched by unknown assailants. This attack prompted Wells-Barnett to begin documenting the horrible legacy of lynching in the United States in her publications Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases and A Red Record.

“A Winchester rifle should have a place of honor in every black home, and it should be used for that protection which the law refuses to give. When the white man who is always the aggressor knows he runs as great risk of biting the dust every time his Afro-American victim does, he will have greater respect for Afro-American life.” –from Southern Horrors: Lynch Law In All Its Phases

WHAT'S UP WITH MILWAUKEE'S AFRICAN AMERICAN ALDERMAN AND COUNTY SUPERVISORS? Why aren't they involved in situations happening in OUR COMMUNITY? They need to be "foot soldiers" and move their bodies. Whenever anything happens in their district, then MOVE and GO to the incident. Examples: When any citizen is killed because of erratic driving, FAITH GROCERY STORE when the folks are protesting, neighborhoods where babies have died because of co-sleeping and on and on. WE NEED MORE MOVEMENT! MOVE YOUR BODIES!!!
Hello Supreme: It was great seeing you at the NAACP Dinner. On Saturday, October 21,2017. We are having our Annual Community Resource Fair at North Division High School.
