60 millions dollars! That is what AIPAC and Co. spent trying to stop Abdul El-Sayed, and it still was not enough.

Nobody spends that kind of money against a candidate they are not afraid of. They did not think they could win the argument, so they tried to buy the outcome. But voters in Michigan said no anyway.

Ten years ago you could not say the name AIPAC out loud in American politics. It was whispers at best. Last night was a loss on their ledger and a win for the people of Michigan.

Whether the margin was ten points or one point is beside the point. The will of the people just outlasted the most expensive opposition money in the country. That is the story.

The ground has moved. Everyone in this business knows it, even the ones who will not say it publicly.

Donald J. Trump denied Omar Artan the World Cup. Today, UEFA announced that he will referee the UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa—one of the most prestigious matches in world football.

There is a lesson here for every Somali, every immigrant, every person who has ever been told “no.”

Your talent is not diminished by rejection. Your destiny is not defined by someone else’s decision. When one door closes, excellence has a way of opening another.

Omar Artan did not become less qualified because he was denied entry. He remained who he always was: Africa’s finest referee and a son of Somalia who earned his place on the world stage through hard work, discipline, and perseverance.

Today, we celebrate not only Omar’s achievement, but the resilience of a people who have spent generations turning obstacles into opportunities.

Congratulations, Omar Abdulkadir Artan. You carry the hopes, pride, and prayers of millions.

Thank you for the wisdom Hillary Clinton.

As a World Cup host, the U.S. shouldn't be flippantly barring officials from entering the country to do their jobs.

It's terribly backward. It's also counterproductive. Global sports competitions should improve international exchange and relations, not the reverse.

Omar Abdulkadir Artan earned his place on football’s biggest stage through merit, excellence, and years of dedication. Africa’s finest referee should not be denied the opportunity to officiate the world’s game because Donald hates the country he comes from.

Donald J. Trump, the World Cup belongs to the world—not to politics, borders, or your discrimination.

FIFA World Cup must defend the integrity of the game. And the United States must uphold the spirit of fairness expected of a World Cup host nation.

If merit cannot cross the border, neither can the values the World Cup claims to represent. The world is watching.

On this sacred day of Eid, as Muslims across the world gather in prayer, gratitude, and celebration, many in our own community are carrying a deep sense of heartbreak and abandonment.

In Minnesota, home to the largest Somali populations in North America, we continue to witness the normalization of rhetoric, policies, and political narratives that dehumanize our communities, especially from Washington, D.C.

And yet, you would think leaders like Governor Tim Walz, Tim Walz Amy Klobuchar would take a moment to share this day with us. No call. No message. No acknowledgment. On one of the holiest days of the year, the community that turned out for them was invisible to them. That silence is not neutral. It is a choice. And our community feels it.

Eid is a reminder of dignity. Of sacrifice. Of justice. Of standing firm in truth even when it is unpopular.

Eid Mubarak to all who continue to carry both faith and courage in difficult times.

Abaabul was unveiled last night, and the room felt what many of us have known in our hearts for a long time: our community is not waiting to be defined, defended, or discovered by others. We are ready to organize ourselves.

Abaabul is a declaration that our voices matter.
A declaration that our dignity is not negotiable.
A declaration that our future must be shaped with us, not for us.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who came, listened, spoke, encouraged, and stood with us. To our speakers, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who believed in this beginning: thank you.

From here on, we organize.
From here on, we build.
From here on, we rise together.

Something is moving among our people. You can feel it in the conversations after Jumu'ah prayers and in coffee shops. You can hear it in the way our mothers are speaking at home. You can see it in our young people, who are no longer asking permission to lead. Something has shifted, and once a community begins to move like this, it does not move backward.

Our parents crossed oceans so we could stand on this ground. Our elders rebuilt entire lives in a country that did not always make room for them. Our children are watching to see what we will build for them. Abaabul is the way. It is the means through which we step fully into our own political voice — together, organized, and unapologetic.

Walaalo, bring the hopes you have been afraid to say out loud.
