Having missed the grand opening of the new track at Redhead MTB Park on Friday, I stopped by today to check it out. It is a world class mountain bike trail that is bringing people from all over the world to see what a reclaimed mine looks like. This is a true gem in the heart of the Range. If you haven’t tried it, it’s definitely worth the trip.

Senate Democrats passed this bill illegally in the waning minutes of the 2024 session and I’m glad the courts struck down at least the unconstitutional gun ban included in the bill.

Today, the Minnesota Court of Appeals upheld a district court's decision to strike down a portion of the nearly 1,500 page omnibus bill passed in the final hour of the 2024 legislative session. The Court of Appeals affirmed that the bill violated the Minnesota Constitution's single-subject clause. Unfortunately, the Court of Appeals declined to strike down the entire law.

Appeals Court Judge Kevin Ross said it best, “No one could read even the first three pages of the challenged 1,500-page law we are considering today — the offspring of nine, multi-topic omnibus bills folded into a gargantuan mega-omnibus bill — and maintain even a slight impression that she is reading a law embracing only one subject,” Ross wrote. “I write separately only to mourn the loss of the state Constitution’s single-subject clause,” Ross added.

This bill jammed through by Minnesota Democrats was a legislative atrocity. Legislators must follow the Constitution in how they make law. Minnesotans deserve transparency and accountability in their government, and stopping gigantic omnibus bill abuse and following our state constitution would go a long way to restoring the people's trust in their government.

Yet another massive fraud scheme being run under Walz’s watch. I vote to create an Office of Inspector General and hold agencies accountable to stop fraud, but this problem is robbing taxpayers blind. Fraudsters shouldn’t be able to pocket millions while you struggle how to make ends meet. This needs to stop.

It’s so good to get back home after a productive session. I was able to join Representative Cal Warwas and Representative Roger Skraba for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Essentia ER expansion and then the North Saint Louis Recovery Court 20th anniversary celebration. Good things are happening on the Range.

We ended session on time and delivered tax relief, increased school funding, and passed fraud prevention efforts. There’s more to be done to make life affordable and protect our way of life, but this was a productive year.

I was proud to meet with Col. Jason Suby to receive my membership certificate for the Civil Air Patrol. Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization and official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force that supports emergency services, aerospace education, and youth leadership programs. In Minnesota, CAP has more than 1,600 volunteers, 18 aircraft, and strong support from state and federal leaders, including all 10 members of Congress, members of the Executive branch, and 86 state legislators.

Good news! Republicans negotiated a tab fee tax cut in the end of session agreement. This is an issue I have been hearing about all session and I'm glad drivers will get some relief when everything gets done.
