*2025 Hamline Midway Annual Meeting & Community Festival*

I had a wonderful time joining neighbors at the 2025 Hamline Midway Annual Meeting & Community Festival this evening. I appreciated the chance to mingle with the crowd, listen to community stories, and share a few words about our shared commitment to Hamline Midway. This annual gathering is such a beautiful reminder of what makes this neighborhood a special place to live, work, and play — neighbors, local businesses, and community organizations all coming together in one space.

We enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship, with powerful highlights and stories from neighbor-led Hamline Midway Coalition organizing committees and meaningful updates from the Midway Investment Cooperative. It was a great opportunity to connect with neighbors, local partners, organizations, and changemakers who are investing their time and energy into our community’s future. A delicious free meal, catered by local businesses, made the night even more special.

It was also wonderful to be joined by St. Paul Mayor-elect Kaohly Her, Ramsey County Commissioner Garrison McMurtrey (District 3), and St. Paul City Council Member Molly Coleman (Ward 4).

A special thank you to the Hamline Midway Coalition and the Midway Investment Cooperative for hosting this event. I’m grateful to be part of celebrating our neighborhood’s collective impact and the vibrant future we are building together in Hamline Midway.

*Rondo–Summit-University Leadership Convening*

Recently, I joined a Leadership Convening in Frogtown—a true meeting of minds and mission. Leaders from across Rondo and Frogtown gathered to align priorities, learn from one another, and lean into the work ahead together. I left encouraged by the kinship in the room and clear about our charge: elevate resident voices, strengthen partnerships, and build forward so progress is felt on every block and by every family.

Special thanks to Kedar Hickman of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation for organizing this gathering and positioning partners to work together on behalf of our community. I was also pleased to welcome Chanda Smith Baker, the new President and CEO of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, to Saint Paul. I look forward to her insight and partnership as we work to better support our residents and shape a shared vision for the future.

We are grateful to The Mali Center in Saint Paul for hosting this convening. The Mali Center is a holistic wellness and health-and-wealth business hub that brings together entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and community partners focused on improving health, wealth, and well-being in our communities. Thank you to all the organizations and community leaders who created space for honest dialogue and shared purpose. Your presence reminds us that our present matters—and that our future is something we build together.

*Senior Gala Frogtown Community Center*

I celebrated with our seniors at Frogtown Community Center. I’m focused on helping older adults age at home with dignity—through in-home supports, home safety repairs, nutritious meals, protection from abuse, mobility access, and clear navigation to benefits. I learned that seniors are interested in advancing digital inclusion and affordable senior housing so no one feels invisible or unsupported.

Frogtown Community Center is running a Senior Program / “Senior Fridays” every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The current is:

*Youth Justice Transformation Stakeholder Convening*

My office attended the Youth Justice Transformation stakeholder convening focused on violence prevention and community-centered solutions. This was a youth-led space, and it was encouraging to see young people ask sharp questions and offer grounded feedback about what supports they need to thrive.

Their honesty, preparation, and courage were powerful reminders that when we make room for youth voice, they will tell us clearly what is working—and what is not. The thoughtful way they challenged systems and proposed solutions showed exactly why youth must be partners, not afterthoughts, in this work.

We also heard brief updates on recent RFPs, including the YouthPrise-administered grants to expand community-based programming for probation-supervised youth and a county solicitation for services for youth referred to the justice system, with timelines and next steps shared with partners. I believe in YJT’s core goals: expanding effective alternatives to unnecessary detention, probation, and out-of-home placement so Ramsey County youth can stay safely connected to family, school, and community.
