Historical Significance: The blood stripe honors the sacrifices of Marine Officers and noncommissioned officers (NCOs) during the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847. This scarlet red stripe on their dress blue trousers commemorates the courage of those Marines and symbolizes their honor and responsibility as leaders.
