Heads up Hoosiers! Today will feature ripe conditions for rapid fire spread, with low humidity levels and gusty winds expected across much of the state. Burning is NOT advised.

Good evening, folks. Quick PSA.

Smokey the Bear isn't mad. He's just.....disappointed.

We have had an absolute rash of field/grass/woods fires the last few days, as have departments around us. Yes, the *ground* is wet. The dead grass and such on top? Yeah, not so much. Couple the dry conditions with some wind, and you've got a recipe for a wildland fire.

Please, please, please use caution when burning. In fact, if you don't have to, please don't. There's currently no burn ban in effect, and with the incoming weather this next week, it's very unlikely there will be. But we still need to use our heads and be responsible about our burning.

Because we don't want to keep disappointing Smokey. He's a bear. And when bears get angry, it's not pretty. We like happy bears, right Smokey Bear?

PSA: Open Burning during the type of weather we are currently experiencing is becoming a bit of a problem. We have been on 5 Wildland Fires over the past few days and residents in our area need to use more caution.

While the ground may feel damp, everything on top of it is dead and burns very easily. If you are burning outside you need to stay with the fire until it is burnt out. We do NOT recommend burning at all under these conditions.

2 of the fires we have been on were caused from people burning trash which is illegal in the State of Indiana, you can be fined by IDEM. So please think twice before burning until conditions are more favorable.

Today students performed their final skills evaluations for their Firefighter II certification. Over the past few weeks students have built on their Firefighter I skills and added to their list of capabilities.

We want to thank all of the students, instructors, and assisting departments for their help throughout Fire Academy 220479. These students have now completed 4 difficult classes in less than 4 months while maintaining jobs, school, and family life.

We wish them all the best of luck in the future as they go out and protect their communities.

Thank you to all of our veterans, one day out of the year is not enough to recognize the sacrifices you have made for this country and those living in it…

We proudly support those in the armed services not just today but everyday… 🇺🇸

Another great Safe Stop in the books! We want to give another Thank You to everyone that made this possible again for the kids and community. It would not be possible without any of you. We enjoy being able to provide a safe and fun environment for them to trick or treat and this year families were able to do it all in one spot! Get some candy, Bubble Tea, some dinner from 812 BBQ, get a photo with the backdrop and check out the fire trucks! As usual the leftover candy will be donated back into the community in the next few days.
