Marion Township Fire Department Marion Township Rural Fire Department Inc. is contracted to provide Fire Protection to Marion, Spice Valley, and Bono Townships.

We also provide EMS, Extrication, and Technical Rescue services within our protection area.

Good evening, folks. Quick PSA.

Smokey the Bear isn't mad. He's just.....disappointed.

We have had an absolute rash of field/grass/woods fires the last few days, as have departments around us. Yes, the *ground* is wet. The dead grass and such on top? Yeah, not so much. Couple the dry conditions with some wind, and you've got a recipe for a wildland fire.

Please, please, please use caution when burning. In fact, if you don't have to, please don't. There's currently no burn ban in effect, and with the incoming weather this next week, it's very unlikely there will be. But we still need to use our heads and be responsible about our burning.

Because we don't want to keep disappointing Smokey. He's a bear. And when bears get angry, it's not pretty. We like happy bears, right Smokey Bear?
