As a proud alumnus of both St. Mary Catholic School and McGill-Toolen, this recognition is deeply meaningful. The lessons of faith, discipline, and service I learned there continue to guide me every day from my time as a student athlete to my work serving the people of District 2.

To be recognized by the very school that helped shape my path is truly humbling. Thank you to the McGill-Toolen for this incredible honor.

Today, we celebrated a milestone moment as city officials welcomed a Mobile Police Officer into the very first home built through the Housing Improvement Program, a District 2 initiative I was proud to create to bring new life and opportunity to once thriving neighborhoods.

Launched in September 2024 with $1 million in seed funding from the City of Mobile, the program began as my vision to restore pride, ownership, and growth in our communities. In April, I committed $2.5 million from District 2’s discretionary funds to help expand this effort, followed by another $1 million from the city and $500,000 from District 2 in October.

This is just the beginning of what we can achieve when we invest in our neighborhoods

Yesterday, I had the honor of joining community leaders and partners to celebrate a transformational investment along one of Mobile’s most historic and meaningful corridors — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

The Complete Streets Project will completely rebuild 1.3 miles of “The Avenue” from Butchers Lane to Broad Street, upgrading utilities and drainage, adding new sidewalks, and creating bike lanes that will connect directly to the Three Mile Creek Greenway Trail.

This initiative represents more than infrastructure it’s about honoring history, restoring pride, and building opportunity for the generations to come. I’m especially proud of how this project aligns with Mobile County’s Civil Rights and Cultural Heritage District, an effort led by Commissioner Merceria Ludgood to preserve and celebrate the people and places that shaped our city’s story.

My thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this vision a reality. Together, we’re continuing to move District 2 and the City of Mobile forward.

Last week, I joined the grand opening of the new Gulf Distributing Company facility in district 2.

This expansion marks another exciting chapter in Mobile’s economic growth and highlights the strong partnerships that continue to drive opportunity in our region. Gulf Distributing’s investment not only supports local jobs but also reinforces confidence in Mobile’s bright future.

It’s always great to see businesses growing and investing right here at home. Another sign that Mobile is moving forward together.
