Pennsylvania American Water Utility Improvement Scheduled on Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) in the City of Coatesville

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Pennsylvania American Water will be performing utility construction on Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) in the City of Coatesville, Chester County, beginning Monday, October 23.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:


Monday, October 23, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on westbound Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) between Diamond Street and 8th Avenue.

Well it's official- we are under contract with N. Abbonizio Contractors, Inc for our road and storm water drainage project. Today, officials from the Borough, LTL Consultants and Chester County Department of Community Development met to complete the needed paperwork, sign the contract and held an on-site meeting.
Our Contractor will be in touch with us by the end of the week to let us know when they will begin physical work in the Borough. Meanwhile, they are working behind the scenes with our engineers to get everything ready.
We thank everyone for their patience through this !

Stormwater Improvements Planned on Several State Highways in Montgomery, Delaware, Chester Counties

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities are planned next week on several state highways under a $14.9 million project to improve stormwater management and facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Chester County

Monday, October 16, through Friday October 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Strasburg Road between Buck Run Road and Hephzibah Hill Road in East Fallowfield Township for sawcutting;

Monday, October 23, through Friday October 27, Strasburg Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Buck Run Road and Hephzibah Hill Road in East Fallowfield Township for sawcutting.

Core Borings Planned at Night Next Week on U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass) in Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that core boring operations will take place next week on U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass) in Sadsbury, West Caln and Valley townships, Chester County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, September 25, through Thursday, September 28, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on sections of eastbound or westbound U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass) from just east of Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) to the Route 82 (Manor Road) Interchange.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Its with a heavy heart we share the passing of a longtime friend of the borough, Jim Durborow. Jim and his wife Sue owned Veteran's Construction Company located in the heart of town until November 2021.
Jim will always be a part of our community and we will forever remember his kindness.

James R. Durborow, 75, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Sue (Haines) Durborow with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Part of this meeting will include contractors walking the roads where the project is occurring..Our engineers will be at Borough Hall providing information and answering questions for the contractors.

Please note there will be an Executive Session beginning at 630pm. Our regular meeting will begin at the conclusion of said meeting, approximately 7pm. Members of the public will not be allowed to enter Borough Hall until the Executive Session has been concluded.

Another busy days for our crews! As I share this, they are wrapping up from another call today.
It's not always fires and accidents that they respond to. Thank you to the crews that went out on Christmas Morning to assist.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to our friends, family and neighbors.
Our crews from Modena Fire Company Station 37 are on scene at a 2 alarm fire in the city. Please keep them and the families affected in your thoughts tonight. This weather adds another level of danger to an already devastating night.
Unfortunately Santa will not be around this year- but the health and safety of our first responders is always our main concern. We hope everyone will continue to support Modena Fire Company Station 37 throughout the upcoming year!
We are in for some crazy weather today is a. Rain, snow, ice, arctic winds, and of course the possibility of flooding. Please use caution if you're out and about today. Get to where you're going safe.

Due to the inclement weather today, Thursday, December 15, recycling will not be picked up.

Please have your recycling bins; non bagged, cleaned items, curbside Sunday night for pick up on Monday December 19, 2022.

Next scheduled recycling pick up will be Thursday December 29, 2022 weather permitting.
