A zine documenting what it is to be Xicanx/Latinx with ties to the Central Valley (Sacramento through Bakersfield). We feed the world, lets feed our souls.

We are interested in exploring what it means to be a Xicanx/Latinx in the Central Valley. What are our struggles? What brought us to the area? How is our identity tied to the land and our experiences here? What do art and beauty mean/look like in our own image? We are most interested in challenging any idea of a monolithic culture; we exist in nuance, in hope, in dreams, in variance. We hope to document our experiences and roles in this place where we are often overlooked. Existimos.

We are excited ti about the relaxer of Volume V of existir. We are hosting a release and mercadito to celebrate our stories and honor our teachings!

Q-Vo family, it’s your editors here, we hope you all are well in body and spirit. Thank you all so much for your support of our previous publications! We love seeing how the zine has been received and where it has traveled to. We are excited to begin working on our fifth.

Teachings are the theme for our upcoming volume of exist(ir). They come in many forms, in our teachers, our elders, life lessons, failures, the earth, each other, and our children just to name a few. It is important they are passed on so we can continue to tap into ancestral memory and create stronger collective knowledge.

Muchas gracias to all those who showed up last night for our flor y canto. It was a beautiful evening! Thank you to those who shared with us, either through poetry, words, art, or sharing space, we appreciate you all! Thank you again to for always being so generous with your space. Thanks also to for being our outside vendor! Mad appreciation and love to our families who made it out as well. It was a powerful thing to see multi-generations of gente together last night to celebrate cultura and community. We love and appreciate you all and can’t wait to see you again!

History is made daily, it is up to us to document it, our own way. As editors of existir we are honored and proud to do that in a small way by these community made zines/collections of our histories.

We are happy to say copies of each of our volumes will be kept at the California Ethnic & Multicultural Archives (CEMA) at UCSB Library! Thank you to Angel for reaching out to us and being the archive’s curator.
