SLV Seed Exchange The purpose of this event is to inspire, encourage and enable people to grow more food. Bring seeds to give away and pick up new ones to diversify your garden!

Through the hosting of seed exchange events, regenerative agricultural education, and supporting local food producers, the San Luis Valley Seed Exchange’s mission is to inspire and actualize our community to become more resilient and food sovereign. Kicking off the event tomorrow is Chaitanya Massera!

Che grew up homesteading between an herb covered orchard and the dusty mesa where he learned a lot about what plants need to thrive. His experience growing cannabis deepened his relationship to the soil discovering how much the life below the plants impacts their potential for growth and vitality.

The 2026 Seed Exchange speaker series, "Sand Into Soil" welcomes Matt Batchelder!

Matt built his first Johnson-Su Bioreactor in Spring of 2018 after attending a Dr David Johnson lecture. He has built almost 40 bioreactors since then and continues to build them throughout Texas and New Mexico. Dr David Johnson et al stress the importance of building healthy soil by increasing biodiversity and by propagating natural processes. He is dedicated to working with farmers to promote the building of healthy soils through the practice of the five principles of soil stewardship, especially increasing microbiodiversity.

Presenting Saturday 4/18 11:30am at Joyful Journey Hot Springs. *This presentation is a demo and will take place outside near the event yurt.

Our 2026 Speaker Series, Sand Into Soil, welcomes David "Diamond" Mauriello!

Diamond, who no longer supports the inhuman, oligarchic empire model destroying our planet and our true nature as human beings. As an activist he decided to do something about it, so he opted out of his former life to begin anew. His qualifiers are 11 years of permaculture experience in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and years of teaching at the university level in Geology. He is currently transforming alpine desert wilderness into a self-sustaining homestead and organic farm with his partner in preparation for the upcoming collapse. If you're curious about homesteading, permaculture, or climate change check out his website-https://www.oppenheimerranch.org
