Let us all celebrate one of our own local girl scout members. Shivani Kandula of South Brunswick has just completed her Silver Award. The Silver Award is the second highest award of the Girl Scouts of the USA, and the highest award that a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.
Shivani had visited one of our local Township Parks, Veterans Park on Beekman Road and realized that at the time, there were no recycling bins in the area. Since she is passionate about the environment, she took it upon herself to make this her Silver Award Project plan. Over the course of several months Shivani put together a detailed plan including the award application, a design of a recyling bin and implementing/building 2 recycling bins to be placed in the park. Below are pictures of Shivani with her project complete, her family and the Supervisor, Jennifer Petri, of the South Brunswick Township Department of Parks and Recreation.
May this be a reminder of how important our environment is and please help us to keep our parks clean.
