What if part of Monroe City high school looked a little more like real life?

A student goes to class, goes to work, gets paid, builds a résumé and after completing 200 hours of approved work-based learning, can graduate with a recognized job certification. Our students get the ability to work in industries growing right here in our community. The best part is, local businesses that give students those opportunities can qualify for up to $2,500 in tax credits per participating student.

With a program like this we’re creating a system where students gain experience, businesses develop future employees, and money earned by our kids stays right here in our community. That’s the kind of investment I want us thinking about. Let’s give our students a chance to earn, learn and build their future before graduation.

Believe in students, invest in their tools, equip them for the best possible future! I'm Jeron Strickland and with your help we can change Monroe City Schools for the best!

Today was such a great day! We got to spend time with our friends at the Mt Zion Back to school Prayer breakfast. We heard a wonderful word of encouragement from Ms Simmons and a special blessing from Pastor Byrd.

Then we passed by the zoo to pass out swag bags and talk to concerned voters! Shoutout to Evangelist Debra from praying with me to invite Christ into our system. Also have to shoutout Ms Erica from Booker T for chatting with me about the importance of quality extra curricular activities and after school programs for her 17 grandkids.

It's time for us to start having open conversations about our current conditions and where we need to be in the future!

I officially qualified to run for the Monroe City School Board - District 5 seat! And, I am so grateful for everyone who has prayed over me, supported me, and stood beside me through every step of this journey so far. There’s much work to do. And I am going to work hard to earn your confidence and vote!

I’ve always preferred to work behind the scenes, but this season demands more. More listening, more direction, more attention to those who quietly make the wheel turn.

The bottom line is: our young people are stepping into a world that’s calling their names. We owe them a community that’s willing to open doors that were previously sealed shut. That’s why I’m running for school board.

Tomorrow is an important day for our community as many men and women will officially qualify to serve through public office. Before any paperwork is filed, I’d love for us to pause and seek God’s wisdom together.

Join us Wednesday at 2:45 PM on the Ouachita Parish Courthouse steps as we pray for every candidate, every family, and every election across our community.

My prayer isn’t simply that the “right person” wins. My prayer is that God’s will is done, that those called to serve will lead with humility, integrity, and courage, and that our community will be better because of it.

Whether you’re supporting me, supporting someone else, or simply believe in the power of prayer, you’re welcome. I hope to see you there.

We had such a great time serving the community yesterday. It really brought joy to my heart to learn how many people think this election is pivotal!

Thank you to Ms. Elisha and Queens of Tomorrow for allowing us to be apart of such an amazing event for our community! The Bible teaches us in Luke 6 to give and you shall receive, pressed down, shaken together and running over! I hope your organization receives that type of blessing from God.
