Happy Mothers Day from Millennium Memory Care!

Today, we honor the incredible women who have nurtured, guided, and loved so deeply throughout their lives. At our communities, we celebrated Mother’s Day with joy, music, flowers, and plenty of sweet moments.

From handmade crafts and delicious treats to live music and heartfelt conversations, our residents were surrounded by love and appreciation. It was a beautiful reminder of the strength, grace, and warmth that mothers bring to our lives every day.

Thank you to all the families who joined us and to our amazing staff for making the day so special.

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms in our lives - today and always!

Severe or advanced dementia is a terminal form of neurodegenerative disease characterized by extreme patient distress and the need for institutionalization. Memory is one of the most remarkable capabilities of the human brain, allowing us to store, retrieve, and use information to navigate daily life. However, memory loss, especially due to conditions like Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, is a complex process that involves changes in brain structure and function. Understanding these changes can shed light on why memory fades and help us better support those affected.

According to a new report by the nonprofit research organization RAND, cognitive ability, functional limitations and physical health can strongly predict the risk of developing dementia up to 20 years before its onset.

Although the current uptake of cognitive testing among older adults remains low, research suggests that participation would increase if the tests were free, easily accessible and supported by improved treatment options.

A new report has identified several factors that can strongly predict at age 60 if people will develop dementia by 80, including having diabetes, not exercising, having a stroke, and not engaging in hobbies.
