🕐 Two weeks out from our first deadline — and we’re building this campaign the same way I’ve built everything else in my life: together.

I’m running for U.S. Senate because Louisiana’s working people deserve a voice that understands hard work, responsibility, and what it takes to keep the lights on and food on the table. If you’re able to contribute, your support right now helps us start strong and reach more folks across this state.

Every dollar matters. Every voice matters. ✊🏿 Join us if you can: bit.ly/jamieforlouisiana

Christian Republican Voters Are Being Exploited

The Evangelical Right does not own a monopoly on Christian values, far from it! There are millions of Christian Democrats, however if you only listened to Republican media, you would think the only verses in the Bible were about abortions and gay marriage. The propagandized rhetoric echoes like a broken record and these messages are entirely intentional. They are a strategy to manipulate religion for political gain.

They amplify selective moral issues while minimizing, deflecting and defending others. Teachings by Jesus, like loving your neighbor as yourself, which includes radical compassion for the poor, outcasts and even of enemies, humility, healing the sick, hospitality of immigrants, honesty, selfless service. This is in direct contrast to brutal immigration tactics, cutting food assistance and healthcare for the poor, islamophobia, xenophobia, homophobia and an absolute hatred for democrats among others. This is not Christianity.

This is hatred and is not only bad for our country but is also bad for Christianity itself. Young people averse to hatred are turned away by how the religious right treats and speaks of other people. As the division grows of who is considered a “real Christian” or “real American” gets smaller and smaller, so do the congregations of churches. The hypocrisy is abhorrent.

In 2016 I was a member of a small Baptist Church in rural Louisiana. The people of the church were like family to me and I loved every one there. I had a deep affection for the teachings of Jesus, the doctrines of kindness, compassion and service to others. I went to church twice on Sunday and to the Wednesday prayer meetings. Politics were not really ever a topic of discussion until…. Trump. All of sudden people I respected and admired were smitten with a candidate who in all contexts was the antithesis of the teachings of Jesus. Narcissistic, arrogant, bigoted, and full of greed. When I asked members of the congregation how they could support him, their answers were, “well he’s better than the alternative” or “ he’s a man of God.” My response to both of those questions was always,” HOW? “ In a closing prayer on my last Sunday, the congregant closed with “God bless our country and bless and protect Donald Trump”. That was it, I was done and haven't been back.

Here is the deal. The majority of republican candidates don't care about God, hell they don’t care about you other than you vote for them. Once in office legislative priorities shift to the only God they are concerned with and that of money. Changing tax policies that only benefit the ultra rich, deregulation of safeguards that protect the environment and people to enlarge corporate profits and cutting programs that help the most vulnerable.

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” (1 Timothy 6:10)

Take note of every elected official involved in pushing through these data centers. They are not serving their citizens, only greed.

It’s getting bad for Trump when the “base” starts having second thoughts.
