Massachusetts beware a PA based organization has been seen in Western Mass handing these out. A faith based no clinical staff organization. I saw this shared in a group and it’s interesting how some people in the comments didn’t see the issue. A free 12 month faith based recovery program thats out of state screams red flag to me 🚩

All creatures desire pleasure, and seek it. When substance use becomes harmful or unregulated, that’s when a health-focused approach to managing use may be welcome. However, studies show and common sense dictates - that simply locking someone away does not deter substance use and does not help with substance use disorder.

Substance use isn’t simply a public health concern, its a federal prison system and judicial system problem too.

Let’s end the war on drugs once and for all, and give people who use substances self-efficacy, respect, and the types of assistance that are already being advocated for: Syringe access, sterile use supplies, accessible naloxone/Narcan, individualized recovery coaching, food, housing, etc. Assistance that meets people where they are.

Let’s treat people, like people. Red Project doesn’t think that’s very radical.
