Such a great group of school leaders! The AASB team enjoyed spending the last two days developing school board members from across Alabama on their proper roles and responsibilities, as well as, being an effective board and building relationships.

Most in attendance were new to school board service or those who were there for a refresher course.

Presenters/topics included: AASB’s Janice Stockman (Roles, Responsibilities, Academic Leadership, & Meetings), Angel Mareno (legal issues) Rebecca Thomas (community engagement), Ada Katherine van Wyhe (government relations), and Dr. Chad Holden (Roles, Responsibilities, and Open Meetings Act), Guest presenters included CSFO Lesley Poe Wallace (financial leadership) Attorney Dana Hill (Board-Attorney Relationship), and Cognia’s Dr. Andre Harrison (Board-Superintendent Relationship).
