To all the local patriots that answered the call and came out to the White County Fairgrounds today, on behalf of the Community Foundation of White County and the White County Veterans Service Office, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who came out to support the set up of the Wall that Heals.

You all worked safely and erected a 379 foot wall in under 6 hours. Numerous local patriots along with personnel from various local agencies and first responders stepped up to execute the mission.

Special thanks to my boss, Nathan Baker, who providing his incredible handyman expertise in guiding the set up of the wall.

Special thanks to the Trustees from the White. County Jail that performed duties admirably.

Special thanks to the following young men: Darin Baker, Nate Smolec, Ben Hodgen, and Brady Bixler from the Twin Lakes Football team. They came out and played a very key role in the setup of the wall.

Special thanks to AMVETS Post 91 in Monticello. They provided personnel to help with set up, purchased pizzas for the volunteers and obtained a donated pallet of drinking water for volunteers from the Monticello Rural King.

Anyway, I am sure I missed someone, but your help was greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again,

Jeff Wilbourne

Something special is happening at VFW Post #1106 Reynolds IN in Reynolds, Indiana.

This post is growing into something bigger than just a meeting place — it’s becoming a place where Veterans come together to build camaraderie, serve the community, and ensure the traditions and values of those who served before us continue for generations to come.

We’re especially looking for GWOT-era Veterans to step up and get involved.

Your generation brings a different perspective, fresh ideas, and the leadership needed to help carry this organization forward. Whether you served in Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere during the Global War on Terror era, your voice matters and your experience has value here.

This is more than joining an organization.
It’s about becoming part of something with purpose.

If you’ve been looking for a way to reconnect with fellow Veterans, serve your community, and help shape the future of Veteran advocacy right here in White County, now is the time.

Come check out VFW Post 1106 in Reynolds and see what’s being built.

The future of our Veteran community depends on the next generation stepping in and taking ownership.

If you have any interest feel free to stop into the White County Veterans Office, we can sign you up right here.

Interested? Reach out or stop by. We’d be proud to have you.

A Lasting Tribute to Service and Sacrifice

Standing with quiet strength and dignity, the veterans memorial in Chalmers serves as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Designed by Ed Delashmit and installed through the efforts of the Brookshire family and the Chalmers Civic Club, the memorial stands as a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together to honor those who served.

At the time of its installation, both Ed Delashmit and Brad Brookshire served as officers with the Chalmers Civic Club, helping lead the effort to bring the project to life.

The monument, constructed at a cost of nearly $10,000, represents far more than granite and craftsmanship. It reflects a shared commitment to preserving the memory, sacrifice, and service of our nation’s veterans.

Engraved in polished black granite, the memorial displays the emblems of each branch of military service surrounding the iconic POW/MIA emblem, a solemn reminder that some sacrifices remain unresolved and that those still unaccounted for must never be forgotten.

Etched across its face are the words:

“In Memory and Honor of Those Who Serve.”

Located in Chalmers Indiana, Those words capture the purpose of the memorial perfectly.

It stands not only in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to our country, but in recognition of all veterans — past and present — who answered the call to defend the freedoms we enjoy today.

This memorial serves as a place of reflection for families, veterans, and community members alike. It offers future generations a visible reminder that freedom has always come at a cost, paid by ordinary men and women who chose service above self.

The dedication and leadership shown by Ed Delashmit, Brad Brookshire, the Brookshire family, and the Chalmers Civic Club ensured that this tribute would become a permanent part of the community.

Their work created more than a monument.

They created a promise — that the service and sacrifice of our veterans will never be forgotten.
