The Officers and Members of the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association mourn the passing of our Past President, Past Chief Nelson "Nellie" Durland.
Chief Durland dedicated 69 years of faithful service to the Hurleyville Fire Department and devoted his life to the volunteer fire service. As a Past President of both the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association, he was a respected leader, mentor, and friend whose commitment to the fire service will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire firefighters for generations to come.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Joan, his son Eric, his family, and the Officers and Members of the Hurleyville Fire Department.
