Upcoming Change to Credit and Debit Card Processing Fees:

The Vermont DMV will apply a 2.3% processing fee to credit and debit card payments beginning this month. Customers will continue to have several no‑fee payment options, including ACH (direct payment from your bank account), cash, and check. ACH is available for online transactions through mydmv.vermont.gov, which remains the fastest and most convenient way to complete many DMV services.

The processing fee will take effect online the evening of May 20, when myDMV comes back online following a scheduled system update. In‑office transactions will begin assessing the fee on May 21. All DMV offices will also begin accepting cash on May 21.

No‑Fee Payment Options
Customers may continue to complete DMV transactions without paying a processing fee by using:

Volunteer for the 2026 National Recreational Boating Safety Survey!

The National Recreational Boating Safety Survey (NRBSS) is a nationwide survey sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard to understand how many people go boating, what types of boats they use, and how often they are on the water. As part of the survey, we are asking for volunteers to complete a brief sign-up page asking about their boating habits and share their contact information with the Coast Guard so a wide range of boaters can be invited to participate in the larger NRBSS survey later in the year. To volunteer, please go to: https://norcfed.gov1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0ezfBlrTYxLdG4e

On Saturday evening, the Vermont Police K‑9 Association held its annual K‑9 Ball in Burlington, where Lieutenant Nick Hendry and K‑9 Lucy were honored with the “K‑9 Detection Team of the Year” award. This award recognizes the K‑9 Team that demonstrates outstanding detection skills and applies these skills to “on the road” success. It is routinely given to the team with a high rate of success in the confiscation of contraband in their specific field.

This DMV K‑9 Team is currently assigned as Task Force Officers (TFOs) with the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms & Explosives (ATF). The detection team is certified in tracking as well as the detection of firearm powder and residue. Since being certified in July 2025, they have been deployed numerous times with significant success.

Examples of recent successes include:

CASE # 25MV015389 – Lucy assisted Burlington Police after a shooting on Grant Street. She located a discarded firearm approximately 430 feet from the scene. The firearm was later confirmed to have been used in the shooting and is now key evidence.

CASE # 25MV013179 – Lucy assisted ATF with a search warrant in Derby Line. She located a loaded firearm in the main bedroom and additional fi****ms inside a basement safe. The incident resulted in federal charges against a prohibited person. In total, six fi****ms were seized.

Scam Alert for Vermont Drivers

We’re seeing a rise in fake texts and emails claiming you owe unpaid tolls or traffic tickets. These messages threaten license or registration suspension and include links that look “official.”

Vermont has no toll roads, and the DMV will never text you demanding payment.

The Vermont DMV will soon apply a 2.3% processing fee to credit and debit card payments.
Customers will continue to have several no‑fee options, including ACH (direct payment from your bank account), cash, and check. ACH is available for online transactions through mydmv.vermont.gov, which remains the fastest and most convenient way to complete many DMV services.
Cash acceptance at mobile locations will also be added in the coming weeks. The DMV is currently completing the setup process and will begin accepting cash at mobile sites once installation is finished.
The exact start date for the credit card fee is forthcoming; the fee will begin when system implementation is complete and will be in effect no later than June 1st.
We are sharing this information early to ensure transparency and give customers advance notice before the fee takes effect.

Please note that FMCSA Portal accounts are disabled after 90 days and archived after 12 months of inactivity. If your account is disabled or archived, reach out to the FMCSA Contact Center at www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration/ask-fmcsa to have your account unlocked.

2. Verify Your Company Information

In the Portal, ensure the following are correct:
Company information
Operation classification
Contact information
Individuals authorized to access your record

3. Update Company Information (If Needed)
