There are simply no words to express the sadness we feel with the passing of Deputy Frank. Our hearts are heavy, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers during this incredibly difficult time.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34: 18

Rest easy Deputy Frank. 💙🖤

Passing of Deputy Katherine Frank -

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office announces with profound sadness the passing of Deputy Katherine Frank, age 26, earlier today. Deputy Frank was surrounded by her family and loved ones in her final moments. In her final act of service and generosity, she became an organ donor, continuing to help others even in her passing. Katherine worked at the South Dakota State Penitentiary from September 2022 until being hired with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office in June 2024.

Deputy Frank’s death is a significant loss to our agency and to the broader law enforcement community in and around Sioux Falls. She served the citizens of Minnehaha County with professionalism, humility, and dedication. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who have had the privilege of working alongside her.

A memorial has been established at the Law Enforcement Center located at 320 W. 4th St., Sioux Falls, SD, for those who wish to pay their respects. The Sheriff’s Office will also continue maintaining a presence at the hospital as we support her family during this difficult time.
Further information regarding funeral services, honors, and departmental arrangements will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Deputy Frank served with dignity and heart. Her service made a meaningful difference, and her impact will remain with us always.

Please join me in keeping the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, all law enforcement officers, and first responders affected by this tragic incident in your thoughts and prayers.

Pray for healing, comfort for those hurting, and peace for the families and loved ones impacted. May God watch over our brothers and sisters in uniform and give them strength during this difficult time.

Good evening, everyone! I hope you’re all having a great summer.

I wanted to take a moment to share a quick update. My family and I have been enjoying some quality time together before school starts in just a few short weeks. The kids are excited to get back to school and reconnect with their teachers and friends. As for me, I’m getting ready for what will hopefully be my last Sturgis Rally while serving with the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve continued attending county commissioner meetings and have been working alongside county leadership on the upcoming Sheriff’s Office budget. While I’m excited to begin this next chapter, I’m also committed to giving my full effort to my current responsibilities as a State Trooper over the next few months.

My official swearing-in as Sheriff will take place on January 4th. Until then, I’ll remain as involved as possible in preparing for the transition while continuing to serve the people of South Dakota in my current role.

I truly appreciate the continued support and encouragement you’ve shown my family and me. I’m looking forward to getting started and serving the citizens of McCook County. Have a safe and enjoyable rest of your summer!

I am incredibly grateful for everyone who supported me, encouraged me, volunteered, shared a kind word, or simply believed in this journey. None of this would have been possible without you.

I look forward to this next chapter and the opportunity to serve our community. Thank you for placing your trust in me.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your support. I am honored, humbled, and ready to get to work.

With the election coming up on Tuesday June 2nd, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the support, encouragement, and kind words throughout this journey.

I started this campaign back in November, and along the way I have had the privilege of meeting so many great people from across this county. From the very beginning, my goal was to be approachable and transparent. To knock on as many doors as I could, have real conversations, and hold meet and greets where we could share a meal together in communities throughout the county.

No matter the outcome, I am incredibly proud of how far we have come. I am proud to live in this great county. I’m thankful for the relationships and support that have come from this experience.

From my family to yours, thank you all for your support. It truly means more than words can express.

Today my family takes a pause to reflect on Memorial Day. A day to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

These heroes lived out the meaning of sacrifice. As John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

We will never truly be able to repay the debt we owe to those who chose service over self, courage over comfort, and sacrifice over safety. Their legacy lives on in every freedom we experience and every flag that flies proudly today.

Today, we honor them. We remember them. And we thank the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

Never forgotten.

I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported us today. The encouragement, conversations, and support truly mean a lot to me and my family.

Seeing so many people take the time out of their day to stop by, visit, and share their thoughts reminds me why I decided to run in the first place. McCook County is full of great people who care deeply about our community and its future.

I’m incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for your continued support, prayers, and belief in this campaign.

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to drop a quick reminder. This coming Saturday, May 23rd starting around 10am I will be at the Salem Park. We will be grilling brats and hot dogs. We will also have Cold Stone Ice cream.

I don’t want to make this a political event but more of a community get together. I know that it is Memorial Day weekend and people will have plans. If you are around please stop by and grab some food and an ice cream. We will have a couple bounce houses set up as well so bring the family.

I wanted to send a thank you to Jerry’s Bakery in Salem for making the buns.

My family and I will also be attending the season opener for the South Dakota Mud Racers in Mitchell on Sunday the 24th to cheer on the local racers.

Stay safe during today’s weather. If you need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out.
