Our Town, Our Responsibility: A Fresh Start for Moorestown’s Future Begins Now

Moorestown and America’s strength has never been determined in Washington or Trenton; it is forged right here at home by Moorestonians, in the neighborhoods and communities we love. Every citizen has a fundamental duty to participate in our local governance and hold our elected leaders responsible
for representing the best interests of our community.

We share your heartbreak that our town council candidates unfortunately withdrew their candidacy just prior to the 2026 ballot deadline. Rather than attempting to rush through identifying and vetting
candidates for the two minority town council seats and squandering our scarce resources on an unprepared cosmetic campaign, the Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee (“MRMC”) strategically decided to undergo a comprehensive leadership restructuring. This week, the MRMC will elect a new Chair and Vice Chair to m completely overhaul our local party from top to bottom. The
MRMC members chose to protect our resources, fortify our foundation, and launch a disciplined, fresh grassroots movement with a unified vision that truly reflects Moorestown’s values. We have a unique
opportunity to rebrand and rebuild our social media pages and websites that were maliciously deleted by prior outside consultants. The Moorestown Republican Club (“MRC”) supports this initiative and plans to work with the MRMC over the next two years to prepare strong candidates for when three
seats and the majority control of Moorestown’s Town Council is on the ballot in 2028.

This new beginning is for every resident who cares about the character and future of our community. We welcome all Moorestonians to join this fresh start initiative:

- Uniting a Broad Alliance: We are actively recruiting proud Republicans, Independent voters,
and common-sense Democrats who recognize that unchecked, single-party control is potentially harmful to Moorestown. We have opportunities for fresh minds to fill committee seats and take action to shape the new Moorestown Republican Party.

- Demanding Real Accountability: For too long, Town Council has rubber-stamped high density overdevelopment and granted PILOT tax abatements to developers while denying fair
funding allocations to our public schools. Homeowners were left to pick up the tab via tax increases to fund a costly school referendum to manage classroom strain and a poorly maintained failing infrastructure.

- Showing Up for Our Community: We will no longer surrender the town square. You will see us speaking boldly at council meetings, showing up on front porches, engaging neighbors on
Main Street, and fighting tirelessly for fiscal sanity and neighborhood preservation.

Lumberton Councilwoman, Husband Charged in Alleged Primary Election Petition Fraud

LUMBERTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Lumberton Township committeewoman and her husband are facing criminal charges after authorities say fraudulent signatures were used to secure her place on the Democratic primary ballot for the June 2026 election.

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced that Gina LaPlaca, 47, and her husband, Jason Carty, 49, have been charged following an investigation into LaPlaca’s nominating petition for the Lumberton Township Committee race.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, investigators spoke with multiple individuals whose names and purported signatures appeared on LaPlaca’s petition. Those individuals allegedly told investigators they had neither signed the petition nor authorized anyone else to sign on their behalf.

Authorities said the petition was submitted to the Lumberton Township Municipal Clerk by Carty.

As part of the filing, LaPlaca signed an affidavit swearing that she had personally circulated the petition and that each person listed had signed it in their own handwriting.

However, investigators allege that Carty also collected signatures for the petition.

The Prosecutor’s Office further alleges that without the disputed signatures, LaPlaca would not have had enough valid signatures to meet the requirement to appear as a candidate in the Democratic primary.

LaPlaca has been charged by summons with Making a False Statement Under Oath, a fourth-degree offense; Knowingly Filing a False Petition, a third-degree offense; two counts of Tampering with Public Records or Information, third-degree offenses; and Falsifying or Tampering with Records, a fourth-degree offense.

Carty has been charged with Knowingly Filing a False Petition, two counts of Tampering with Public Records or Information, and Falsifying or Tampering with Records.

The charges were filed on Monday, August 10.

Both are scheduled to make their first appearance in Superior Court in Mount Holly on September 21, 2026.

The allegations are accusations only. LaPlaca and Carty are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
