We keep hearing that there are no such instances of transgender people inappropriately using bathrooms and locker rooms. And yet, the activists are spending all their time and energy to hide the very behavior that they claim doesn’t exist.

The attitude of these activists just highlights what we all know— they don’t care about protecting girls and women.

They would prefer to overload the system so that reports of men being naked in women’s rec center showers are harder to address. One report that an individual sent to me was about a man showering in a women’s rec center shower —and he purposely left the shower curtain open. A teenage girl found him there. It’s unacceptable.

The joke is on these activists. While they waste their time, Utah will continue to protect girls and women. And I look forward to working with our next state auditor, because I know that he will take the role of protecting women seriously.

The post made by state school board member Natalie Cline this week was awful and unjustifiable. A child should never be targeted by adults, let alone an elected official. Utah has a process in place to protect our student athletes from this type of targeted harassment. If a student is on the court, field, or track – no adult, elected official, parent, or athlete should question that student’s eligibility. Treating a child in this way is unacceptable and should never happen. Lastly, Cline should resign.

Over and over again the media and so called “journalists” do their best to report false information in an effort to get clicks and further divides. Shameful.

But equally shameful are the people who don’t do their own research and become enraged over a false narrative.

I understand that the legislation I run isn’t everyone’s favorite, all the time. You can dislike like it and you can dislike me. But if you ever want to have an actual conversation with me about it, I’ll meet with you at the Capitol to hear your thoughts and share some of mine.

The truth is, every bill I run I run because a constituent requested it. I don’t always like 100% of the bills I run.

There is no excuse for what happened in Israel. What happened was pure evil. Hearing what happened and what they are going through still is gut wrenching.

I pray for peace. I pray for Israel. I pray that hearts will be softened and love will prevail.

If you believe the old & poor won’t be able to participate in vote by mail if they have to opt in, let me ease your mind.

1. Old people like voting in person & they can opt in online OR on paper.

2. Once again, poor people aren’t stupid. They can figure out how to opt in like everyone else who chooses vote by mail.

Despite the raging from some, giving people an option to receive their ballot in the mail or not isn’t a conspiracy. It’s a logical process to reduce waste and to ensure our rolls are up to date.

Utah’s legislative interim week ended for me today with the Olympic and Paralympic winter games coordination committee.

I’ll be honest, I was uneasy about the games coming here, out of concerns of the costs. But today I learned that Zero state or local tax dollars will be required and the games will generate roughly $64Million dollars in revenue for Utah.

It was a great meeting and I look forward to our next meeting!

On Monday, Davis school district will be coming to the Administrative rules and oversight committee. I’ve requested that the Davis School Board come to our committee and explain why they have banned the Bible in middle schools and elementary schools, and by what authority and process did the review committee have and use to do it. I’m sincerely interested in how this went down.

It’s my understanding that the review committee skipped over other books in their queue to review, just to get to the Bible. They skipped over books with pornographic images in them, to review and remove the Bible. This alone would not be as alarming, however, some of the schools in Davis School district have not only chosen to not follow state law regarding keeping sensitive materials from school kids, but they highlighted and promoted those same books. And now they banned the Bible. Given all this, they had to expect they’d be called to the administrative rules committee. It’s my hope that the board will attend, but more importantly that the review committee members attend.

People talk about this as if it’s a complex issue. I just don’t see it as such. We are required by federal laws to keep harmful images and products away from minors. Po*******hy, like drugs and alcohol, is harmful to minors. Books that include po*******hy should not be allowed in public schools for minors consumption. The Bible is not a pornographic book and attempts to make it so are a reach.

(I share this as my opinion, and nothing more. Perhaps I’ll have a better understanding on Monday of their logic and reasoning.)

For the 2023 General Session I am working on several policies that I introduced last session, including my policy to improve our voting process, to untie the hands of school districts with regards to funding, and to improve government accountability.

I also opened bill files to repeal several laws from decades ago, to explore gambling in Utah, to address title insurance fraud, and a Women’s Bill of Rights. Each bill has been requested by a constituent.

It’s true that I get many more requests to run bills than I can possibly run. Unfortunately, I do have to do some picking and choosing. Often a colleague will be running a similar bill to the one a constituent requested, and we collaborate on it. And sometimes I put off the decision to run a requested bill until I can learn more about the matter. But I always do my best to unsure that each bill request is given a fair chance.
