Throwing some support to our neighbors in South Amboy

Satski’s firehouse spare ribs is this coming Saturday, May 15th @ Protection firehouse(corner of David st & Feltus st, South Amboy)

Due to extremely high cost of the ribs, we unfortunately have to raise the price to $20 a rack. We do not want to do it because we do not want to make our loyal customers pay more but we are forced to this time around. June’s ribs are up in the air because of the high cost and us not wanting our customers paying too much. If the price comes down, so will ours. Just to give you an idea, we are paying a dollar more per pound than we were in march. We order 2000 lbs so thats $2000 out of pocket expense. We hope you all understand and still come out to support us.

Cash only. $20 a rack. Please wear a mask and social distance while in line. Start selling around 9am.

Members of the SFD along with companies from all over NJ participated in a drive by parade to bring up the spirits of retired FDNY firefighter, Jimmy, who resides here in NJ. Jimmy recently had some health issues and required surgery. He continues to help companies all over NJ with memorial ceremonies and also is responsible for ringing the bell for each life lost during the ground zero ceremony.

GET WELL JIMMY!

Sayreville Police Department

The Sayreville Police Department and the Borough of Sayreville Office of Emergency Management is coordinating with Middlesex County Health Department and State officials about the evolving vaccine distribution. We understand there is some confusion and frustration with the vaccination efforts and information is changing on a daily basis. Governor Murphy today expanded the eligibility for the vaccine and there is an increased demand for information. There are several efforts to increase the availability of vaccinations. Next week we anticipate the State will open a mega-site vaccination location in Raritan Center in Edison, NJ. Vaccinations are also being offered by Middlesex County Health Department in Sayreville. The county has a plan to open 5 regional vaccination centers in the coming weeks. We have put together our best guidance for how to register for the vaccine and different locations offering the vaccine. We will provide updates on any new locations as we get them.

WHO IS ABLE TO GET THE VACCINE?
Currently Phase 1A – Healthcare workers, first responders (police & fire)
Individuals at High Risk - Individuals aged 65 and older, and individuals ages 16-64 with medical conditions that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus. These conditions include Cancer, Chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Down Syndrome, Heart conditions, Obesity, Severe Obesity, Sickle cell disease, Smoking, Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

HOW TO REGISTER?
There are several efforts underway by the State, County, and local providers to vaccinate people. Each process has its own registration and appointment availability. You should first register on the State website and you will receive a notification when one of the Mega-sites comes open and available. After you register on the State website, you should check the individual sites to see if there are any available appointments. The State website does not automatically forward your information to the County or local providers.

State of New Jersey COVID-19 Vaccine Registration - https://covidvaccine.nj.gov/

Hackensack Meridian Health -

These Middlesex County sites are listed as vaccine locations, but currently do not have supplies or have no available appointments. These locations should be monitored to see availability.

Non-hospital-based healthcare personnel and residents of other long-term care settings

Phase 1B (January - February)
Frontline essential workers and individuals over 75;

For the latest information on the vaccine visit - https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/vaccine

In the coming weeks, New Jersey will launch its statewide vaccine scheduling system, the New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System (NJVSS), to help all potential Phase 1A vaccine recipients identify nearby vaccine distribution sites and schedule an appointment.
We will provide updates on the latest information by email, Nixle, Twitter, and recorded messages.

...RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT FINDS TROPICAL STORM FAY HAS FORMED JUST OFF THE COAST OF NORTH CAROLINA...
...EXPECTED TO BRING HEAVY RAINFALL AND GUSTY WINDS TO PORTIONS OF THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...

NHC is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Storm Fay. It's the sixth named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, and the earliest occurrence of the "F" named storm since the beginning of the satellite era in 1966. The previous record was Franklin on July 22, 2005.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect along the coast from Cape May, New Jersey, to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, including Long Island and Long Island Sound. Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area on Friday and spread northward through the warning area Friday night. For storm information specific to your area, including possible inland watches and warnings, please monitor products issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office - www.weather.gov

At 5 p.m. EDT, the center of Tropical Storm Fay was located about 40 miles (65 km) east-northeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and about 195 miles (310 km) south of Ocean City, Maryland. It's moving toward the north near 7 mph (11 km/h). A northward to north-northeastward motion at a faster forward speed is expected over the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of Fay is forecast to move near the mid-Atlantic coast on Friday, and move inland over the Northeast United States on Saturday.

Data from an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) primarily to the east and southeast of the center. Some slight strengthening is forecast to occur tonight and Friday. Weakening should begin after the center moves inland on Saturday.

Fay is expected to produce 3 to 5 inches of rain along and near the track of Fay across the mid-Atlantic states into southeast New York and southern New England. These rains may result in flash flooding where the heaviest amounts occur.

The next complete advisory will be issued by NHC at 11 p.m. EDT with an intermediate advisory at 8 p.m. EDT - www.hurricanes.gov

Yesterday was busy for the SFD🔥

In the early afternoon, crews were dispatched to a fire at the Gallery Motel. Upon arrival, the chief confirmed a fire in one of the hotel rooms. Crews acted quickly and the fire was contained to that one room.

Later that night, crews were dispatched to a working house fire on Kendall Drive. Again, thanks to the quick response the fire was knocked quickly and no injuries were reported. Thank you to our neighboring towns- Laurence Harbor, South Amboy, Perth Amboy and South River for standing by while our crews were at work.

We are ONE....In case you are unaware, today, Monday October 28th, is officially FIRST RESPONDERS DAY. This is a day in America where we honor and show our respect for all the brave men and women who so selflessly serve us as part of EMS, Rescue Squad, Fire and Police teams. They don't do it for the money or glory, they do it because they genuinely care about their fellow citizens. First Responders make the difference between life and death countless times. And of course here on our neighborhood streets of Sayreville, it is our First Responders who are always on call and ready to rush in when their services are needed. We Salute You All and Appreciate Your Unwavering Dedication... Thank you for your service...
