Here's a great article highlighting last week's CBYCC project in Syringa and the collaborative effort to reduce wildfire risk before it starts. Give it a read! 🌲

Creating fire-adapted communities takes partnership and this week was a great example of what can be accomplished when communities come together 💪🔥

Crews from the Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps spent the week in the Syringa community creating defensible space and improving safe access for homeowners. Sponsored by Idaho Firewise and funded through a Community Wildfire Defense Grant, the project reduced hazardous vegetation around homes while giving participants hands-on experience in wildfire resilience.

As they worked, the crews learned about fire behavior, defensible space, safe firefighting tactics, and vegetation management, building valuable knowledge and skills while making a meaningful impact for the community.

This project's success started long before the crews arrived. We are especially grateful to the Syringa homeowners who invested time and effort preparing their properties and working alongside us to make this project possible.

A sincere thank you to our partners who helped make this effort a success: the U.S. Forest Service - Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, Simmons Sanitation, Hahn Rental, and the Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps. Your collaboration and support are helping create safer, more fire-adapted communities across Idaho.
