After my son was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, we spent many hours in the car, criss-crossing the Palouse region—the beautiful rolling hills of north Idaho and eastern Washington—between home and the children's hospital. The beauty of the landscape struck me in a new way, and to pass the time, I started bringing my camera along for the ride and shooting photos at 60mph through the car window. Ove

r time, friends started asking if they could buy prints of some of those photos, and so I started wondering if I should take photography more seriously. I began investing more time and energy into making photos worth framing, and within a couple of years had enough photos I was happy with to start a small online photo business. In addition to photography, I dabble in art and work as a freelance graphic designer, so some of that work is also available for sale as well, in the form of coffee mugs, cards, calendars, and more.

Meta flagged my previous photo as likely being AI. Ugh. No! This era is Infuriating for artists to navigate. I never have and never will post an AI generated image here. I take all my own photos and edit them manually in Adobe Lightroom. Noise reduction is the AI only feature I use, and only for my sports photos taken at night. 😆 This photo was taken from Steptoe Butte in 2017, years before AI was even an option. And I hate that my hard work and years of photographic expertise now get flagged and dismissed as the work of bots.
