Member Monday
Meet Trent Crum
He has worked with us for 1.5 years.
He has been a member of the Cardington Fire Department for 3 years.
He works part time at Sciota Valley Fire.
In his free time he likes chilling on his front porch and socializing with his friends.

From his Captain
“Trent is a fan favorite around the department. Always positive and laughing, he has a knack for keeping those around him in good spirits. Trent is just getting started in his EMS career but he has already gotten a strong grasp of the fundamentals of patient care. He’s currently in Advanced EMT school trying to become a more capable provider to better serve his patients and the residents of Morrow County. I couldn’t be happier to be his captain and I really look forward to seeing what he is going to achieve in the future.”

We have a sign-up list for vaccine. We are scheduling people based on their priority group and vaccine availability. As the vaccine supply increases, we can get more people vaccinated who want to be. The road is long, but we will keep moving forward to the other side of COVID. Be kind, and keep each other safe and healthy.

RELIABLE VACCINE INFO HERE: Save and share this post because it’s time to talk about risk vs benefit, protection, natural immunity and immunity prorogued from a #vaccine, side effects, and some myth busting.
.
First and foremost: Your BEST protection from #COVID19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 #vaccine, wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds, and washing your hands and using hand sanitizer often. No one tool alone is going to stop this pandemic. Getting COVID-19 (like I did), does offer some natural protection, known as immunity (natural immunity).
.
However, researchers don’t know how long this protection lasts, and the RISK of severe illness and death from #COVID-19 far outweighs any BENEFITS of natural immunity. COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you by creating an antibody response without having to experience sickness.
.
The vaccine does not give you a live version of the virus. How it works is this: the #mRNA #vaccine from @pfizerinc delivers a set of instructions to your immune system that allows it to create a spike protein, and in return your body delivers an immune response which can produce antibodies.
.
This is known as immunity produced by a vaccine.
.
Both natural immunity and immunity produced by a vaccine are important aspects of COVID-19 that researchers are trying to learn more about, and it is something we will be monitoring over time.
.
So let’s talk about SIDE EFFECTS:
The most commonly reported side effects, which typically lasted several days, were pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, and fever.
.
Of note, more people experienced these side effects after the second dose than after the first dose, so it is important for vaccination providers and recipients to expect that there may be some side effects after either dose, but even more so after the second dose.
Save and share this post so we can assure reliable information is circulating the internet!

Today was my 6 month follow up post Covid visit at @mountsinainyc Center For Post Covid Care.
.
Lots of feels today because the last 6 months have been up and down with a lot of learning, adjusting and more adjusting to a new normal for my health. At the end of the day I always remind myself that there are many people who did not have the same outcome as I did, and are no longer here with their loved ones, and that always keeps me grounded, and grateful.
.
I am thankful every day to be alive. But I definitely get frustrated with the issues I am still having. I have a lot of memory and word finding issues - known as “post Covid Brain Fog and Cognitive Changes”, and also shortness of breathe with minimal activity - both which seem to be my “new normal”. It’s something that can be disheartening especially as I was in great shape and running 4-5 days a week before I got #covid19.
.
Today at my follow up I realized I have some more cognitive issues than I’d ideally like to have, so I will now be following up with a Neurologist for additional testing and monitoring and a pulmonologist as well.
.
I mean honestly- at this point, I’ll handle whatever gets handed my way and I’ll get through that sh*t because I have ALWAYS PULLED THROUGH the sh*tstorm, and this is just another chapter.
.
I am participating in the COVID-19 registry research study that Sinai is doing to monitor us “long haulers”, and it gave me some odd comfort to hear today that there are many like me who were “young and healthy” before Covid and still have symptoms and issues months after recovery. So, I’m thankful that I am a involved in the research that can hopefully assist our scientists and healthcare providers approach #Covid19 moving forward.
.
Thankful to be here, even if I can’t remember half the sh*t I used to be able to, and even if it takes me 10 minutes to get my thoughts into words 🥴🥴
.
Next step is a CT Head, Neuro f/u, CT Angio Chest, Pulmonary Function Tests, Pulm f/u, and some Neuroplasticity exercises to help with my cognitive changes.
.
Thanks everyone for the love and support over the last 6 months !! And thanks to my loved ones for dealing with my forgetfulness. 🥴.

Residents of Morrow County: Please understand that, in addition to keeping you safe, it is also our intention to keep our first responders safe and protected from COVID-19. We ask that if you have questions or concerns related to COVID-19 (Corona Virus) to please call 1-833-427-5634 which is the Ohio Department of Health’s Corona Virus hotline for questions and resources. If you do call 9-1-1 for a true emergency and are also experiencing flu-like symptoms, we ask that you notify the 9-1-1 dispatcher so that they can inform the responding personnel to put on the appropriate protective equipment. The dispatcher will also ask you a series of questions to screen for Covid-19. Also, please know that the 9-1-1 dispatcher will more than likely ask for you to walk to your front door or garage (if the weather is poor). This is in an attempt to limit the number of first responders entering the homes of patients who may be positive for COVID-19. Please wait at your front door. Do not walk out to the EMS vehicle unless requested to do so by the first responders. As always, it is a good idea to contact your physician prior to calling 911 for flu like symptoms....Thank you.

03/19/2020

Attention Morrow County residents, we are constantly working to ensure the health and safety of the citizens we serve. With that in mind, certain changes to our methods of operation have become necessary to ensure patients are being managed in a way that best consumes the resources available.

Please be advised that Morrow County EMS crews will immediately begin screening patients that call for our services. Any patient that calls for symptoms of a flu-like illness will be screened by the crews at the scene of the call. The crew will then make a decision as to whether or not the patient’s condition requires transport to an emergency department. If the patient condition requires further evaluation at an emergency department, that patient will be placed in isolation precautions and transported as appropriate. If it is decided that the patient does not meet criteria making transport necessary, they will be educated on the best practices to manage their condition. These decisions have been made in coordination with our medical director.

If you are feeling ill and believe you may be exhibiting symptoms of the COVID 19 Coronavirus, it is recommended you contact your primary care physician by phone for further direction. Also, Ohio Department of Health has a hotline available at 1-833-427-5634. Morrow County Health Department also can be contacted at 419-947-1545 for further guidance.

These steps have been taken in accordance with direction from Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
