Last week we had the opportunity to speak to the Safety Town Students at Mt Gilead Elementary Schools! We had so much fun teaching these kids about 911 and EMS! Today I received these cute little thank you notes from the students!!

Assistant 911 Director Jessica Spears stopped to support Iberia Fire Depts Hog Roast this afternoon. The two ladies on the right stopped to drop off free backpacks and school supplies for children!! What a great organization out of Northfield, Ohio!! Was nice to see this organization come together with Iberia Fire Dept, Morrow County EMS and Morrow County 911! We will be reaching out to this organization for future PR Events!!

We want to thank everyone who came out today to see us at the Touch-A-Truck event! We had a lot of fun and hope that everyone else enjoyed it too!

A big thank you to all of the agencies and businesses who brought equipment and food trucks to the event. This wouldn’t have been a success without you.

Crew Member Monday!

Staring with EMT David Wortz. David has been working with MCEMS for 3 years now. David also works for Tri-Twp Fire Dept & Delaware County EMS part time. He likes spending his time off with his friends and family. David is a proud dog dad of his 3 year old pug, Milo! 🐾

Next is EMT Allison Marstiller. Allison has worked with MCEMS for a total of 5 years. She is also a part time firefighter for Radnor Township FD & Leesburg Township FD. Allison is currently a Paramedic student and spends her spare time with her 18 month old daughter, Dublynn.

Allison and David serve The Village of Mount Gilead on 1 unit days.

Emergency Oxygen cylinder refill

If you need to refill your oxygen bottles you may bring them to EMS station 1, located at 140 S. Main Street in Mt. Gilead. We will do this while the county is with out power.

Meet the members of our team every Monday!

1st picture on the left we have EMT Autumn Fellows. Autumn has been an EMT for 5 years and has been with MCEMS for 9 months. She enjoys spending her time with her two kids and her puppy dog!

Next to her is Advanced EMT Cameron Thrasher. Cameron has been with MCEMS for 2 years. He also works part time at Scioto Valley Fire Dept & Salt Rock Fire Dept. Cameron enjoys spending time with his Wife Maggie and daughter RaeLynn.

Autumn and Cameron are both Paramedic students and serve the Iberia area on 3 unit duty days.

Second picture on the left is 911 Dispatcher/ EMT Corey Schalip. Corey has been involved in the fire service for 15 years and with MCEMS since 2016. Corey’s years of service have been spent on both the truck and in the 911 center.

Last but certainly never least, we have Assistant 911 Director/ EMT Jessica Spears. Jess started as a 911 dispatcher in November of 2016 and was promoted to assistant director in July of 2020. Jess has also been an EMT for 3 years and works part time on the truck. She is a proud mom of two kids.

Meet the members of our team every Monday!

First we have 911 Dispatcher Sara Gombert! Sara has been with Morrow County 911 since 2018. Sara is a 3rd generation first responder who has served the Johnsville area for over 9 years. Sara enjoys spending her time with her 2 dogs.

(Second picture) on the left is EMT Brandon Cramer.
Brandon has been with MCEMS for 11 months. He is also a firefighter for Elm Valley with 13 years of service. Brandon is a Paramedic student and a father of 2. He enjoys spending his time hunting and fishing.

In the middle we have EMT Paige Rex. Paige has been with MCEMS for 1.5 years. She is a Paramedic student and a volunteer firefighter for Wyandot East Fire and EMS. Paige and Brandon service the Village of Mount Gilead on 3 unit.

To the right is 911 Director Keith Acker. Keith has been the director for 10 years and has been a Paramedic for 18 years. Keith has been apart of Morrow County firefighters and squadsman association since 2003. He enjoys riding his motorcycle and spending time with his beautiful wife.

Meet the members of MCEMS & 911 every Monday!

Starting at the top, you have Paramedic Captain Amanda Rex. Amanda is our 1 unit captain, she has been in EMS for 17 years and with MCEMS since October 2015. In her spare time Amanda enjoys organizing community events in her home town of Nevada. Her family includes a husband of 18 years in June, and her 3 kids Paige, TJ, & Alex.

Next is Advanced EMT Zach Meyers. Zach has been in EMS and with MCEMS since December 2018. Zach is currently a Paramedic Student but in his spare time he enjoys riding his motorcycle and volunteering as a Firefighter for Cardington FD.

In front we have EMT BreAnna Barrett Moore. BreAnna has been with MCEMS since January of 2021. BreAnna is a proud mother of her 4 year old son. Zack and BreAnna both serve the Cardington area on 1 unit duty days.

Last but certainly not least, (second picture) we have 911 Dispatcher Marcia Wenger. Marcia started her long time service with Morrow County in 1989 as a volunteer EMT out of Johnsville. In the midst of her service, she became a 911 dispatcher as well. Marcia left EMS in 2008 when her husband suddenly passed away, she then devoted her time to her farm and 911 dispatching. She enjoys spending her time off watching her 26 grandchildren and great grandchildren in their year round sporting events. She also enjoys camping at kokosing near Frederick town when she can.

Today is the last day of FTEP training for our 3 FTO’s. This program will improve our onboarding process for new EMT’s and Paramedics. Pictured in the back row are Captain Brewer, Paramedic Behrendt and EMT Keller. Thanks to DCEMS and OEMSCA for sponsoring this training.

EMS leaders from across Ohio gathered in Columbus Thursday to meet with lawmakers and advocate for more support as their industry continues to struggle for survival.

Today the Ohio EMS Chiefs Association met with several State of Ohio Representatives and Senators. Pictured below is Representative Brian Baldridge (House District 90) along with Captain Amanda Rex, Chief Steward John Edwards, Chief Scott Booker (Hocking County EMS), and Chief Jeff Sparks. Mr. Baldridge is a champion of EMS. Did you know that EMS is not considered an essential service? Neither did the Representatives and Senators. Todays meetings set out to change that!

The PR Committee is planning our next flea market in September (more information to come).

We are looking for a nonprofit organization within morrow county to donate the proceeds to.

If you would like to be considered, please submit a letter to [email protected] and let us know what your organization does.

The organization that is chosen will be given a free 10x10 space at the flea market. They will also need to obtain donations from local businesses for silent auction baskets. All of the silent auction funds raised and the vendor space fees will be donated to the organization that is selected.
