It's easy to look at yesterday's results and be disappointed.
I won't say that it went the way I wanted it to; I'm certainly disappointed.
But the context here matters so much.
My team and I set out to get 600 votes and win for District 8. We thought 600 votes would be enough.
We got 590.
Unfortunately, the Republican Governor's primary was crazy competitive and there was record Republican turnout as well, which is the only way a lot of these local candidates managed to win.
But look at these results for the last 3 election cycles. 1100 votes was the most votes ever cast in District 8. Any other year we win!
So here's the exciting part. We've got orders of magnitude more campaign experience across Wilson County in the Wilson County Democratic Party, we ve got 2 new County Commissioners in Aaron D. Wilson for Wilson County Commission, District 20 and Commissioner Elect Robert Moxley - District 2, and we've got bonafide leaders throughout the county, from Sierra McMillan Barnett to Lindsey for TN to Brittany for Democratic State Executive Committee District 17 to Sallie Brown to Richie for County Commission - District 1. Wilson County, TN to Karen Brinker.
I'll end with this, with all this hope and optimism for the future Wilson County's local leadership, you incumbents have 4 years to start making the changes your constituents are so desperately asking for, because if not, you're going to be IN for it when 2030 rolls around.
Thank you all for the support and love, this campaign really has been the honor of a lifetime.
