I voted “no” on the state budget. I could not support a budget that failed to direct CARES funding to provide relief to working families, small businesses, front-line workers, schools, and non-profits. I could not support a budget that made cuts to environmental stewardship and infrastructure maintenance programs. I appreciate that a deficit forces difficult decisions, but this budget was not the way to best position Pennsylvania for a recovery from the pandemic and resulting economic crisis.

I'm pleased to announce that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded three school safety grants to the 37th District:

Baldwin-Whitehall School District: $16,000
Quaker Valley School District: $19,800
West Jefferson Hills School District: $20,000

The grants can be used to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment, and to provide for the training and compensation of school resource and police officers.
